I have been wanting to do something for awhile and after alot of research on this site and the other i decided to go with this product from http://www.soundproofcow.com/Foam-Composites/

When i get my boat back on the lake i'll post the decibel readings from before and after. I had it out this weekend and i can definitely tell a difference. Its not a big difference but enough to where i dont regret taking the time to do the project. Im shooting for a 3 db drop hopefully i got that. I'll update the post this weekend.photo 1.JPG photo 2.JPG photo 3.JPG

I am curious if you feel like adding the insulation to the back of the engine compartment helped?

How hard was this material to form and adhere? I've use acoustiblok on the past, but it is heavy and difficult to work with.

The material was pretty easy to work with. The biggest pain was if you need to trim a small amount off. You will need lots of razor blades. For the majority of the cuts i used a siding scissors and it worked great.

I only did the back of the engine compartment because i had some left over and thought i would be better back there than the ski locker.

I put pipe insulation around my engine hatch to seal it better and now it seems like the sound is coming up through the clean out hatch more. I am planning to insulate the back part of the engine to reduce that sound which propagates in there

Was that just one sheet 4x4.5 sheet, or did it take two?

It took 2 sheets. If you have a bulb seal or pipe insulation already installed you will need to remove for ease of install. Besides this insulation seals up better than the bulb seal i had around the engine hatch.

Watching this. We used that sound insulation on our old Sport Fish and it helped a lot. I looked at the sound insulation from the factory and it is puny to say the least when compared to that stuff. Post the numbers when you get a chance. Can you describe the noticeable difference you experienced?

I did notice this weekend that a lot of the noise is vibration resonation throughout the hull vs. actual engine noise. Any reduction though will help greatly.
