I went out to the marina to inspect, read, and replace my engines oil and plugs yesterday when I found this on the starboard engine in cylinder 4. (view uploads) Flash back a few months back while playing on the lake I heard and felt a power loss on the starboard engine while running full throttle, at the is point I cut back and shut down to inspect the clean-out plug. The sounds this engine was putting out while powered sounded just like a unseated clean-out plug. I checked that at the time and reseated the plug and proceeded to the marina at half throttle. Now back in present time it seems as though the #4 plug was loose all along and burnt completely around the threaded body. After extracting the oil on this engine it seems to have taken on water in the crankcase as well. So what are my options to get this baby rebuilt and running properly? I'd like to find someone to do the work in the area if possible as time and my engine skill level are not the best. I'm in the Austin, TX. area. Please discuss....

What did the other plugs look like?
Hopefully (non-HO) MR-1 experts will chime in, but in the meantime sounds like the engine overheated/cracked cooling manifold? to cause water ingress?

uggh, so many questions,

You need a YDS to see about any codes on the engine,

If I were you i'd find a reputable PWC shop and have them diagnose and fix it,

How do you know you had water in the crankcase? how much water?
Did you ever run the engine after the day of the unusual sound? if so how much?
was the plug threaded in the cylinder at all?

Would you have noticed if your alarm lights on the tachs were flashing?

.

I can see the water floating from the oil extracted on the starboard engine. Plus the volume was around 4 quarts, normally you'll get around 1.8 to 2.0 qts. on a top oil draw. Plug 3 was running hot, plugs 2, and 1 were close to normal. I don't see any threaded body remaining in the cylinder head. It was totally melted away. I was lucky not to have and on-board fire I do believe after seeing the damage.

I have a YDS, I brought it out yesterday only to find out that I had only part of the cable with me, I left the other half at home. Ah the challenges of working
at the marina.....
