i need help. My starboard check engine light alarm goes off. The engines are running fine. We had a mechanic come out and do a couple of test and everything checked out. I have a Yamaha ar240 2016. I have taken it out twice and the alarm goes off all the time. I’m thinking it’s a bad sensor but I’m not sure. Any suggestions on maybe what’s wrong?

My 2016 SX240 does the same shit. As soon as i start it and back it off the trailer it will start going off. Does it about every other week.

I have ran it three times this week and the third time the error stopped. It bugs.

Have you ever taken it in to a Yamaha dealer?

I had this happen last week. Noticed one of the pissers for the starboard engine was not doing much. Found out it was overheating because of some crap we took in. Once I cleared the blockage and the temp warning went away, the beeping continued showing 'engine issue'. Once I disconnected the batteries and brought everything back online it was fine.
Just a couple thoughts:
-Have you completely disconnected the batteries, reconnected and then tried running them again?
-Have you held down the SysCtl button to get to the Service screen where the codes are shown?
-Have you verified the batteries are FULLY charged?

I have a 2016 ar 240. I also get a check engine code on either engine for no reason and sometimes it goes into limp mode. It usually happens when running fast. But not always. The code will eventually clear with the battery disconnected. I have had it to the dealer twice and they can’t find anything. Batteries are always charged full. Any input would be helpful. Thanks.

So I had this issue last year but the check engine stayed on. Dealer did a test and there was no code but they could not clear. Turned out to be corrosion on the main harness. They cleaned and lubed the harness and it cleared. No issues since.

Thanks for the info. How old was your boat? Mine starting doing this when it was brand new on the first trip out. There was probably no corrosion at that time. Thanks joe

Sysctl button? Where? I get the code every time I haven’t driven the boat in a week. Goes away after running the boat a while

The first few times this happened to me, mine read code 76 that means No-wake/cruise assist down. After I ran the system diagnostic and few times it stopped giving a code but the engine light kept coming back. I remembered reading about this happening to another member and he said to use the battery disconnect to clear the codes(turn all batteries off for at least 30 sec). Once I fully charged my batteries(over 12v each) I have never had the engine light come back on. A fully charged marine battery should read 13.1-13.4v

Just took mine to the dealer for third time. They hooked it up and said it was a etv relay ( what ever that is) it is a $16.00 dollar part.
