So I've go this factory HU in my 242, and it still works. However, its looking a little rough and I'm gonna be doing a Stereo Upgrade next winter anyway, so I am starting to plan now. My question is, is the opening for the HU a standard single DIN HU opening, or is it slightly larger? The Factory HU seems to be a little fatter that a standard 2" single DIN HU. Any thoughts?

So, some of the HU's I am looking to install are the Rockford Fosgate HU's or similar for the new system, but it doesn't look like it will work with that opening. Does anyone else have one of these HU's installed in a 2010-14 242? Lets see some pics if you do!TOB10.jpg

I am in similar situation as you are.
My shitty stock HU (Infinity PRV340) is located in a niche like yours. The PRV340 was made specifically for Yamaha by Prospecelectronics so it was hard to find info on the unit. But i called Prospec and they confirmed the opening size of the PRV340 and confimred the PRV315 will fit in the opening.

Long story short, I found a replacement HU Infinity PRV-315 that has all the features I want (volume knob not + & - buttons for the volume) and remote connection for a wired remote at the swim deck. This is the wired remote I got that I will install on the swim deck.

Im not sure the opening size of your current HU, but that info will help you pinpoint what HU you can fit into that spot.

Another option you could do is use a different location for a new HU and plate over the existing HU opening. But like me, you might not have any other dash space available.IMG_2408.JPG

Thanks Hector! I've looked at the JL Media Master and that was one of the HU's I had a question about. Looks like the adapter plate will solve the mounting problem but still may require trimming some fiberglass out to allow it to fit... I looked from the underside of the Helm and it appears to be a standard single-din 2" HU that was factory. I'm still leaning towards the Rockford HU and remotes after I played with them at the store. This thread is not picking up much steam as I figured it would with all the stereo guru's on here!! lol
JL Audio media master.
Here is a link to the plate adaptor to fit over your HU

I hear you on the + & - buttons Jeff_S!! I cant stand that. I want standard rotary knob for my volume. My HU is still working, but the AUX input won't work and the Bluetooth is shot. I can't get anything to connect to it. I'm over it. I'm still leaning towards the Rockford HU with remote on the swim deck, and adding another remote somewhere around the passenger helm area for the wife to control the radio. The Rockford Fosgate HU and and remote system is straight up bas ass! I like the JL media master too and haven't completely ruled it out. I am gonna go with JL Speakers all the way, and for amps I'm either gonna do the JL amps or the Rockford amps. I've got all summer to collect my system and will do my stereo upgrade next winter. Again, thanks for posting and giving me some feedback!

Anyone have any thoughts on the Rockford HU's and Remotes? Anyone that has one and has had it for a season or two.... How do you like it and does it seem to be holding up well? Does it perform as expected?

Anyone have one of these Amps and how do you like it? Does it perform well and as expected? Any bitches, gripes, or complaints on them? Anyone have any thoughts on Rockford's C.L.E.A.N. technology?

Wetsounds makes one as well. https://wetsounds.com/pages/products/WS-MC-1_spec

One thing to remember is both Jl and wetsounds will let you control individual zones.

You will find mostly everyone running either one of those 2 brands.
Wetsounds is louder with more treble in my opinion while jl is more clear w less treble.
I’m older so I like Jl better but have wetsounds towers and eq. The rest is Jl

Yeah I'm older too and completely agree about the JL clarity! I really don't care anything about being the loudest out there or blowing other boats off the water. I just want a good, loud, clear, sound system and operability from around the boat! After playing with them in the store, I like the Rockford head units the best. Speakers on the other hand, JL all the way.
