My current system is 6 years old and very bad. I am planning to replace the stock unit with an upgraded one that fits in the same dimensions without making any new holes in the dashboard. I am not savvy with electronics and would just like to simply replace the unit as well as the speakers with upgraded ones.
How difficult will it be to replace the speakers with speaker+integrated led lights?

Any suggestions? I am looking for a good decent system that does not break my bank.

Cheers

Lots of people have upgraded to Fusion units with great success I'm not sure if cutting is required for that upgrade but I'm sure someone will chime in. I upgraded to a Sony MEX 100-BT and it has made a world of difference is the strongest powered marine head unit I have found with a class d amp built in and no cutting was required. I also did the LED speaker upgrade and it was pretty simple. I used the Kicker Km 6.5 inch speakers the did not require any additional cutting either.

If you go with the fusion hu be sure to check out jet boat pilot as well, they sell a mounting plate for some fusion models so that the face plate once mounted covers the entire stock opening on the dash/console.

I replaced the stock speakers with led backlit speakers on my swim deck last season. I blew the controller on the first set by attaching them directly to the battery via a switch. The second time around I attached them to the remote/antenna/amp activation line on the hu and everything worked/works fine now. You have to add some leads no matter what but if you attach them to the remote line on your hu or amp, if any, you should only have to run them once, not twice like I did.
