@HELP

Pulling the plugs will allow me to possibly spin the impeller by hand, correct? Trying everything before I spend my weekend pulling the boat from the slip!

Thanks @MOA_Chaser looks like I'm limping my way back to the trailer in the morning. At least now I can have beers tonight instead of driving everyone around to the water front bars. Cheers.

Yamaha needs to make these clean out plugs about 6 inches bigger!

If you get the voat on the trailer or up on a lift you can unbolt the pump which will give you the leverage to pull the whole thing out and let it simply drop to the ground.

If not, try getting a small knife and cutting it. Some swiss army knoves have a little saw section that will hack through it pretty good.

A couple things come to mind.

1. The wood might shrink a bit once it dries out making it easier to pry out.

2. It might be easier to just pull the pump if you have access to the rear of the boat (or if you can put in backwards on the lift and work from the dock).

Hopefully this won't ruin your weekend plans.

Going to let it sit for the night in the slip. Tried all of above. No access to under the boat on the lift. Pulled the pump before to get the damn golf ball out last year so that should be easy. It's just the 2 miles I have to go on one engine to get to the slip. Good thing I have plenty of buddies here that yet to know the work they will be doing in the morning.

Appreciate the quick replies fellas. Y'all are top notch.

I'd try drinking it out. It is a holiday weekend after all. [flag]

Good luck in the morning @GiddYupJoe. Great shot on the new profile pic BTW.

You can spin the shaft from the engine compartment(at least in my classic boat) with a pipe wrench. But the wood will probably just turn with the impeller.

Pop the pump out and get back to your weekend.

Tools, spline grease and hitch are in route for 10 am tomorrow. Glad one buddy hung back for the night. On it!

If the wood is wedged then removing the plugs really won't help. You are on the right track.

@GiddYupJoe - just asking, but do you have enough room for a small saw or Dremel tool? I did the same thing late last year and once it was back on the trailer was actually able to get it out using my hunting bone saw to cut it enough to get it out. Wasn't easy but it eventually came out from working on it from under the boat getting at it through the grill.

Boat at lake house.... Check!

Slip owner happened to have a 26' flat pontoon, slid it under the boat up on the lift.

Easy peasy.

@GiddYupJoe glad you got it taken care of without having to pull the boat. That almost looks like a brown golf ball.

Everyone in the office looked at me like I had lost my mind when I started laughing at your "expressionistic" picture.

@GiddYupJoe - I think we'd all agree - That DEFINITELY deserved the finger!!!
