Hi all!

We've launched our 25' Scarab from Anclote, De Soto, and Gandy. I've researched other ramps in the area and please comment on pluses/negatives for launching a 25 footer from the following locations (please comment on parking, accessibility, if parking lot fills up, ease of launch, etc.:

Davis Island, Tampa
Williams Park, Riverview
E.G. Simmons Park, Ruskin
Park Boulevard, Indian Shores

I've heard positive things about Belleair Causeway so I may give this one a shot soon.

Thanks!

When in the area try the free one at Maximo Park pretty nice it is close to the main channel that runs to the sky way and to fort Desoto and other locations on the Egmont channel. My stomping grounds. If you see some old guy driving by like a bat out of hell standing up not using his hands to steer or hold on , it's just me.

Anclote is like a damn whirlpool. You got 3 Currents moving in different direction. I go out to the sandbar and Anclote Island almost every weekend and have only used that ramp maybe once. If you can id avoid it at all cost.

I’ve used Davis Island & Williams.

Davis Island:
Best for access to:
* Downtown/Channelside
Pros:
* Free
* Clean
* Well maintained
* Ample parking
Cons:
* Steep
* Poor lighting
* Must drive through downtown and Davis Island
* No dock cleats
* Fair/below average dock maintenance (nails/barnacles)
* Marina 3 mins from ramp

Williams:
Best for access to:
* Beer Can Island
* Relaxing cruise up the Alafia river

Pros:
* Free
* There’s a little park with boat docks which could be nice for a picnic or a place to let the kids/pets run
* Several gas stations in route from every direction of the ramp
* Ample parking
* Well maintained
Cons:
* REALLY busy here especially between 10-11
* Debris accumulates on the ramp. This is the only ramp I’ve ever used 4x4
