Ok we have found a few boats that we are interested in but all have painted trailers. Before we purchase one we would like to have a plan for the trailer as we launch in salt water so the painted trailer is useless for me. We can sell and buy a aluminum here locally. But wanted to test the waters on weather or not there is anyone out there willing to trade. My brand new painted trailer for your galvanized or aluminum trailer.

If your buying new you can't have them upgrade the trailer for you if not ask them about a credit for you not taking the trailer and buying your own? There are many people on here who have tried this kind of trade on here but very few have successfully done so most who have the Galvanized trailer prefer to keep them just in case.

Thanks.

That’s kinda what I was seeing from a search I made on the site. Unfortunately no option with the sellers.

I was in the same position when I bought my used boat/trailer. Trailer was painted and I preferred a galvanized or aluminum trailer. I bought the boat/trailer as it was a package deal. I boat in brackish water so I wanted to get a new trailer to last. I waited until the local boat show and traded the painted trailer towards an aluminium one. Like others have mentioned, I tried to sell just the painted trailer on here in the classified ads as well as on the local craigslist. Trailer didn't move. That's when I decided to go ahead and trade it. Good luck!

O sold my old mfi trailer that needed everything replaced on it fast.. Of course it was galvanized. But I had people lined up to come look at this thing. Sold it in two weeks and it paid for half of my new aluminum ibeam trailer I bought. But painted may not move as easy.

Experience tells me an aluminum trailer will run $3,500 to $4,000. Don't expect full value trade in even with a new Shorelandr. $1,500 maybe. I only got $1,000 trade for the monster trailer that came with my first boat. When I moved up to the 2013 242 the aluminum trailer stayed with me and I put the older 232 on the newer Shorelandr to sell it. The buyer was thrilled he was getting a newer trailer, but I kept the good one.

My aluminum I beam trailer was 3k... I sold my old 2008 mfi trailer that still had the original bias ply tires... Needed bunk boards... Lights and brake work done on it for I think 1200.. I could have asked for 1500 and I could have gotten it. The way people were lining up I might could have gotten even more...
