Getting ready to trailer my Scarab 2016 195 from Florida to Maryland. Have original cover. Should poles be up or down?

Some varying opinions that I have seen over time on this. Mine is this: if its the white shipping cover with only the single pole for the bow area, then yes, pole up. If its the black mooring cover (which I personally would not tow a real long distance with anyway) then no poles / poles down.

I trailered from Il to Fl and back. I used a round tube in the bow to have at least some support in the bow and used the pole in the rear. Typically the cover gets pushed down in the bow and lifted in the cockpit while on the highway. The cover does not have to be pushed up tight with anything, just something so it doesn’t get pushed down hard & stretched out.

Assuming you're talking about the black Yamaha Mooring cover here. What's the concern with trailering with that cover?

I've got 2 seasons and around 7.5k miles trailering with that cover on my AR190. Aside from it getting a shade looser over time, I can't find any ill effects to boat or cover from the mileage.

Thanks for all your replays, very helpful!!

Mainly the stretching, so I switch over to the shipping cover when I can if I need to tow distances or highways. Glad yours is holding up well.

I ran the shipping cover for 2 seasons before the plastic exo covering deteriorated and the inner felt couldn't take the wind loads any longer.

I do wish the black cover had a more "felt like" interior to it. But no reason other than it would "feel" like a nicer product.
