C785A87E-565D-47F4-9A95-0E5D898A38E7.jpeg Hello bought a 2018 AR 240, I am upgrading all speakers and going to add transom speaker, could some one with a limited who has these cushions provide these dimensions edge to edge.

Thanks.

@Oscar Cruz congrats on the new boat and welcome to the forum...

I can chime in on this personally as I just had my cushions modified on my 2017 AR...Twice.

First time I had some JL MX650s put in and had them cut but didnt install them, then ended up replacing those speakers with larger M770s within 2 months so I had to have them cut again.

Depending on the speaker you go with and the size you should be able to cut the cushion where the black bead is and have enough room...here are a few pics of mine....your best bet is to get speakers installed then take boat to upholster to have them cut....our cushions are made diff from the 242LS once you open them up...your upholster can tell you if he can mimick that halfmoon, I wanted to match intially but didnt seem like he could get it to look factory due to the way the cushion is constructed. Think I paid 100 total.

Thank you for your quick reply, I will install my speakers first, than take it to my local upholstery an see what they can do for me.

You dont HAVE to do it this way....It was my experience based off having 2 diff sets of speakers installed within 2 months

I'd be interested to see if your upholsterer can create that same look as the 242LS...would be very nice touch, but I saw a few other members just square it off and that's what I went with.

If you have them cut it so the boarder is the black bead I think you will be fine...I got mine done in the peak of summer so my wait time was weeks vs days and I had to measure and then convey to the upholster....my boat is 4 hrs away in storage by the lakes I hit, or I would have done it diff so only need to cut it once.

Good luck...they definitely make a noticeable diff.

Are you going to add tower speakers? I ask bc you might want to put a larger speaker on the rear if you want to project...some mfgs have speakers larger than 6.5 if you so desired.

I am planning on adding 8 revo 6, the regular 4 stock location, transom and cockpit area above the cup holder, also a pair of the rev 8 for the tower, and a sub in the 242x location. I wonder if the revo 8 would fit in transom area?

Sounds like a nice system....I rock all JL Audio.

Those Revo 8s are pretty massive, I dont think they would work unless you mount them in a particular spot if it has the depth, those are definitely bigger than the M770s I put back there, not by much but still def larger. My cushions still touch my speakers, so you might have to mount those a lil father forward if that makes sense.

You might be ok with the 6.5s if you have towers.

I only wanted 1 pair of towers (for now) hence going with the larger speakers and 200 rms each

What amps do you plan to run to power everything?

JL Audio m800/8 for the 8 speakers and m1000/5 bridged for the tower and sub. I had 2 JL Audio m series amps in my motorcycle and never had issue with them, they make great products.

Excellent choices...those will do you fine....

Any reason you prefer the WS speakers over Jl...towers maybe...speakers and subs...not sure....I'm biased but just cusious.

Make sure to use good wiring and rcas

I know I want the rev 8 and didn’t want to mix and match my speakers. All my speaker have to have the same grill, I don’t know why they just do lol. I am buying everything slowly but surely so I can install it all at once. I had 2 set of C5 6.5 and m8.8 on my motorcycle and loved it.

Makes total sense....I have those JL M880s for towers, and 8 M770s.

You will have a nice sounding system. What kind of sub? ported or sealed, and where will you mount it?

You might be ok with 1 house battery, but eventually might need two depending on how long/loud you play for.

I have 4 JL amps, 2 house batteries and so far no low battery issues like in the past.

When will you install? make sure to post pics.

I was hoping to to have everything within the next couple month. I’ll definitely take lots of picture, I found a lot of good information here. For the sub I am going with the Wetsound 10” free air, it well be installed in the same location as the 242x, definitely getting the two house batteries.
