Anyone changed transom plate? Had a catastrophic failure on solas impellers on starboard drive. One blade sheered 3/4 of the way and bent back and gouged the transom plate. Sending both drives to Impros and getting new Solas impellers and stainless solas impeller housings. When I took the drive off on the one that shredded I saw that the blade the broke bent back and gouged the transom plate!

Going to attach pics of the damage. Do I need to replace the transom plate? Can I sand it down and polish smooth? REALLY don’t want to try and tackle that…

TIA!

I would sand it smooth so the water flow wont be turbulent, i would think it will be fine.
Easy to pull the pump again if it acts different from the other

Were you wide open when this happen ? Do you have any sea grass or things that get sucked up that could have caused the failure ?

There used to be a lot of reports of solas impellers failing in the past, not sure if its the same issue. Not 100% on the cause but they would break apart and ruin parts of the pump
