Trim Tabs <scam> Pretty Bummed Out

That’s really unfortunate. Unless the marina was paying the guy under the table, they should have payroll info set up. Unless like you said, all the info was fake.
 
Depending on the marina too and if they are on the up and up, they could have been involved or another employee could have given the guy the go ahead to work the scheme.

Kind of reminds me of a time I was at a gun store and a guy sitting in the showroom walked over and opened a case of handguns on the counter in front of the salesman and asked if I was interested in any of them. While I doubt these were “hot”, I suspected the salesman and this guy were working some kind of side hustle/scheme out of the store.

@HangOutdoors I do not believe this is your problem. I would file a BBB complaint using the company's location. BBB is very even handed. You were duped, not by someone posing as an employee of the company, but by someone working for the company, probably on company time. I would not threaten anyone. I would just file a complaint.
