Hey I have a trans shop to bad I wasn’t close enough to help but that extension housing should be cheap enough that I would not bother trying to have it welded. Need to check the ujoints really good because that’s about the only thing we ever see causing those to crack. What kind of truck Is it ?
Here is a pic of joint right in front of rear dif.Hey I have a trans shop to bad I wasn’t close enough to help but that extension housing should be cheap enough that I would not bother trying to have it welded. It looks like the rear pinion seal is also leaking a little but as far as the ujoints you need to look for play or looseness in the joint. They can can also fail in a way where they get stiff and lock up so probably should pull the shaft out and check them. Have you felt any vibration lately? Usually a bad ujoint will vibrate under load. What specifically do I need to look for at the u joints.
I also found a small amount of oil on floor where the driveshaft meets the rear differential.
Can’t find any play in any joints.
