We just moved up to a 242 after owning a 190 since last year, and the difference in power is unbelievable.
I'm a rec-skier and deep water slalom starts were very difficult with the 190, doable but difficult. At 200lbs I'm not exactly the same size I was 20-years ago (although I still wear the same wetsuit), and it took around 10-15 seconds of agonizing plowing through the water to get up behind the 190.
Yesterday was my first ski behind the "new" boat and I had my 10-year old film my first attempt. From the time my wife punched the throttles to the time I planed up on the ski was 2-seconds! There was an initial 1/2 second where I had my doubts as I could feel the pumps loading up, but almost immediately after that I was on top of the water like I was behind a Nautique.
Due to the energy saved using the bigger boat I was able to do another lap around the ski area than I usually did behind the 190. This alone was worth the 2x price of the last boat.
BTW: Luckily the boat came equipped with RideSteady, which means my wife and I have many happy years ahead
