Wake wedge demo in DFW

so where was the 3,000 lbs placed ?

800 ski locker, 2 400 bags under the port seat, 750 bag on top of port seat, 550 bag on the starboard side transom, and 2 people in the boat. 10.7 mph running about 9000 rpms

I was able to spend a great afternoon/evening with Scokil on Lake Ray Hubbard trying out the wake wedge yesterday. We had a really good wave once we had aprox 2,500lbs on board, as mentioned before ballast placement is key and we probably didn't have ours the best with 800lbs in the ski locker which probably would have been better served on the port side rear seat.

If anybody else wants to go I'd be glad to show it to you, With Lewisville closed I may be going back to Lake Murray in the next week or two with my boat otherwise I don't mind driving an hour to meet you if you have an 07-09 model. Just give me a PM if your interested

Yes, it definitely got better with more weight to the rear surfside. We only had my super sumo pump that had a different fitting that Scott's bag so we made it work and had to drain the bags into the boat and out the scupper and bilge pump for the water that made it's way there.

You guys are dedicated! Lol

9000rpms? My 2012 212x does 7.5k on a good day. What's the secret?

@mljhnr glad to have you onboard, the boats have different engines, you have a 1.8L that max at 7650 rpm, he has MR-1 HO engine that max at 10,200 rpm

Ah, thanks for the response to my newbie question. Just received the wedge today, thanks Jerry, looking forward to a summer of surfing!

9000 RPM's to go short of 11mph. I know for a fact, my single engine would be cavitating like a mofo by then. In fact, it did the last time I was loaded down with fat sacs and fat friends.

biffdotorg do you surf on ur x-20? I thought about trying it on my utopia 185 I have the 240 efi as well.

We try. The girls can go ropeless but my fat butt can't. It's so much fun trying though.

a fat sack in the locker helps.

We're looking into the wake wedge for our 2016 242 Limited S...

Will we get a decent wave without ballast?

No, the Wake wedge is not a wake enhancement device, it MUST be used in conjunction with ballast. 800 surf side swim deck and 800 surf side cabin seat minimum for your boat.
