Got water coming out of the port side washout when I was giving any throttle. Something must be stuck and sucked up in the line. The motor wasn’t cooling at all so took the boat out of the water and blew air threw it and it made it 5x better but didn’t fix the problem. Any ideas would be appreciated or should I try blowing it out again. Definitely not taking it to the dealer if I don’t have too

There is a check valve inside intended to prevent that. Does it leak past the cover if you close it tight? If so, that should solve it. The other concern is that if the engine is overheating/not cooling while this is happening...the line may be blocked... The hose for this "entry point" joins the hose in a Y, joining with the high pressure water from the pump to the engine. There is a mesh at the pump, so no weeds should have gotten through. Not sure where the block could be coming from. Are you open to following the cooling hose to the inside? maybe you can disconnect at a few convenient places and confirm there is nothing blocking the cooling hoses?

I have an older MR-1 engine but I'm pretty sure this applies just the same. I'm sure others will provide better suggestions shortly.

Best of Luck!

EDIT: The way you describe the problem..Water flowing out of the washout + Engine not cooling = Maybe cooling passage blocked after the Y that joins the Pump Cooling water source with the washout water. so the pump water pressure is high, cannot exit the other end easily because of the block, so pressure is higher than usual and backs into the washout?

Block is somewhere after the Y..right?

Best of luck!

Yeah I believe it’s somewhere after the Y since I can’t get to it. Going to really dig into today and see where I get on it. When the cap was on it didn’t leak past the cap on the second go around so it wasn’t too concerning since both peeholes were pumping but I’d prefer no leak at all haha

You could undo the Y and push air from the "OUT" hose on the other side of the cooling system to see if the block comes out through the IN? (Which would be undone as step1) Not sure it's wise but if not convinced otherwise, It's something I would try if it was me. As with all free advice, Try at your own risk!

Was there ever a resolution on this? I had water coming out my washout but didn’t have any overheating issues.

I blew air through it. Shot some sand out but I have both pissers working so I just keep the cap closed and haven’t had any problems. This winter I’ll replace the caps and see how that does

I did a washout yesterday and everything was fine. Both my pissers were flowing strong on the way out to the sandbar today. I still had leakage with the cap on but not too much.

Not sure if I should be concerned or not. The boat is going to the dealer in 2 weeks...

Keep me posted if you don’t mind, I think it could’ve ruined the backflow ball in the washout cap but I have zero clue

Does the washout line get pressure when the boat is at speed? Could I put a short hose with a reducer nozzle and spray people when we're at speed?! :)

I just called my mechanic at the dealership and he said it’s normal for water to push up through the flushout ports and that if it’s leaking with the cap on that the cap just needs to be replaced.

So I think the little ball-thingy that’s on the inside of the flushout was stuck in the open position. I put my flushout hose in and locked/unlocked it before we left the sandbar. Didn’t have any water washing back on the ride home.
