If I ever open the passenger side rear seats any water that was pooled on the seats will pour onto my batteries. Is this a hazard/risk at all? I now wipe the seat off before lifting it, but it has happened at least twice this summer. Its mostly fresh water - I guess salt water would be worse. Any thoughts?

I've noticed the same thing - the channels around the seats help keep water out, but only when the seats are closed. We keep a white towel on the boat to wipe down the seats if we get caught in a shower. Doesn't your dual battery location have a cover?

If not and they're exposed, then yes water is an issue as it could cause a short. It would have to be a big puddle to splash across both positive and negative terminals at the same time though. Also water might pool in the battery pockets if you're splashing a lot in there, and start sloshing around when you're moving.

I would see about getting a replacement cover or fashioning a new one. It'll help with preventing corrosion issues too.

There has never been a battery cover over my batteries. Was this something that was missing? I have had my boat serviced numerous times and no one mentioned it. The positive terminals both have a small plastic cap over each - is that he cover you are referring to? Other than those small, approximate 1 inch caps both of the batteries are exposed.

As you can see from 212S's picture, there's supposed to be a cover over the battery well that came from the factory. It's held there by two wing nuts, whose studs protrude from underneath that compartment.
