On a 2021 212SE, is there a Wet Sounds sound bar that can be added to the tower? I’m not a fan of those jet engine tower speakers. I’d appreciate any information about upgrades on the factory system installed on my boat. Thanks!

I run a Wetsounds Stealth Ultra HD on my 190. We love it.

Throws TONS of sound out the back of the boat. VERY VERY little bass though, just be aware. It was a great solution for us, as we aren't audiophiles, and just wanted some tunes while at anchor and hanging off the back of the boat. This replaced a Dewalt Jobsite radio bungie corded to the swim platform that we used on the last boat. Some people don't like these bars, and they're spendy (ours was like $600 as a refub unit). Most prefer the full range speakers in cans. Like you, I don't like the cans, and think the bar is a better solution, especially since ours contains it's own amp. Just made the install super easy

Few notes:
  • Buy the mounting brackets. They're worth it. The curved tower is a challenge. I wanted mine mounted "behind" the tower, not "below", but the tower curves further than the brackets can reach (and it blocked access to the tower tow point)
  • I had to pull the tower off the boat to run the cables. Others have ran wires without. It's not hard, just takes some time and a few buddies.
  • It whistles at speed. Headwinds above 40mph make it whistle. It's almost unbearable on the expressway while towing. Get a cover made from the local upholstry shop (In process now) to keep that from happening.
  • Hookup is an easy 12v+, Grnd, and 3.5mm audio
    • I used a RCA-3.5mm adapter, and a 3.5mm extension cable
  • It DOES NOT power on and off with the stereo. You have to manually turn it on and off each time. Kinda dumb, but nice at times if you don't want it on.
  • It's self amplified and significantly loud AND clear at high volumes. I'm told to turn it down more often than I like.
  • Careful the edges and corners are sharp, and it's in the walkway. I'm 6'2" and will bonk my head if I forget where I'm at on the boat and stand up.
  • Ours is a refurb unit from CreativeAudio. This will be season #4 with it, and it works great.
  • Ours is amplified, but they sell NON-amplified versions as well. Should be able to reuse your existing amp/wiring to power the new bar. I don't know the details of how to make that work, but I know it's possible and that it exists.

Let me know if you have any questions. Be happy to help :D

Thank you for the awesome reply. I'm going to assume I can have the sound bar and speakers on simultaneously? Tell me about removing the tower. I've heard it just needs to be folded down. Great feedback...thank you so much

Glad to help.

Most definitely have them both on at the same time. What I do is turn the stereo on, then turn on the soundbar. The bar "boots up" in bluetooth mode, so I switch it over to Aux-in mode (simple button press). Turn on takes 30sec at most. The soundbar has "pseudo independant" volume. Basically I can adjust the volume on the bar in addition to the volume from the stereo. This lets me adjust the "balance" between the two. Often at anchor I'll add 5-6 notches of volume on the bar, then add a few to the stereo. This throw more sound OUT behind the boat, and less IN the boat. However, we'll typically leave the volume on the bar set (it remembers where it was when you turn it off/on) and just use the stereo to adjust overall. You can also turn off the bar if you like and have just the boat speakers going. OR, you can turn off the boat speakers and bluetooth your phone into the bar and have just the bar going (although sound by itself isn't spectacular, it will work).

I couldn't snake the wires through the opening at the bottom of the tower, and then back over the mounts. So I chose to remove the tower and wire it all on the ground, then put the tower back on. The AR towers are held on with some small pins at the point of rotation, and those pins are held in with some little circlips. Take the circlips out, then tap the pins out with a thin screwdriver and small mallet (super easy), and the tower is free of the boat. There are some wired connections on the starboard side for the anchor light up there, but they have a weatherpak style connector that comes out easily.

Here's the photo album link to where I pulled it off. Have a look and let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you so much. I did some research and I can wire it directly to my current sound system just like you said. Glad I decided to go withy the soundbar. Those tower speakers are pricey!

Great set of pics. I took a look at my tower the other day and I can see the same constraints. How much did your tower weigh? Wonder how much mine weighs?

Be careful when you're ordering the soundbar. Some of the Wetsounds stuff (like mine) has an amp built in. Some of them are NOT amplified. Make sure you grab the right one!

Also, be sure you're completely aware.....these are NOT full range speakers. They have tons of volume and clarity at power, but NO, and I mean NO bass from them. There are (8) 4in and (2) 2in speakers in there. Just not enough cone surface area to make good bass.

Not 100% certain. I can easily pick it up and move it around myself. The shape is super awkward, but the weight is probably 50-75-ish lbs. It's really not that heavy. Just myself and my neighbhor were able to pick it up off the hull (he on the outside, me on the inside) while in the garage as shown. Then I walked my end over to the swim platform, hopped down, and set it on the ground. It's not terrible, but I wouldn't try it alone.

I saw that on the Wet Sounds website. Definitely going with the amp.

Great pics by the way. Love the swing! Going to set that up for my grand babies!

Little guy would hang out there for quite a while in the breeze with his juice. I think he's about 14mo in that picture.

I just came across this post. I have a similar 2021- 212SE and have been looking at adding a sound bar as well. I just hit the 10hr service mark/break in period and will be pulling it to take it for service. I can’t find really any information on the Enovation system, will the amplified bar from wet sounds plug directly into the Enovation unit?
thanks for the help!

Wow...nice boat! How did you get that color? The told me I could have grey in the same scheme you have, or a full black hull. Looks great!

Thanks but that’s actually the grey. Must be the lighting or reflecting from the water. This is it in the sunshine the day I did my sea trial.
