What all is needed for Maintenance

So, curiosity got me googling... It appears that the spark plugs I have bought previously were not 100% correct. I have always found "LFR6A-11" readily available and cheapest. The LFR6A-11 is NGK part #3672. NGK also makes a #6668 which is the exact same spec as the 3672 but are correctly gapped for our boats at 0.9mm. In the future I will be buying these. I have linked both part numbers below at what I believe is a reasonable price.

Yeah I had to go over pay for plugs at the power sports store as all the local auto parts stores didn't have the LFR6A but several had the LFR6a-11 but I wasn't sure if it was exactly the same. I probably should have just ordered the from Advanced Auto and waited on the as they were only $5.99 there. Especially since it looks like I wont get out to do this till Saturday now I was hoping to do it today.

Yeah, this has come up before, the LFR6As are the correct choice. ;)

Will this work to squeeze into the the zerk fitting in the engine compartment down by the pump or is there a specific marine grease needed?

OEM grease is lithium based, if you want to be a stickler. But for this application I use anything I have in the pump, the actual intermediate bearing there is enclosed so the only purpose of grease you squirt in there is yo keep the water out of the bearing housing.

My 2 cents... I found eBay to have the best price on plugs. Also, the owners manual says to remove the pump cone and check to see if there is water in the rear impeller bearing annually or every 100 hrs.

@swatski this grease says it doesn't play well with different kinds of grease should I go get the lithium grease somewhere if so any recommendations? @MrMoose I plan to do this as well.
 
Also the oil filter says to make sure to install the gasket before putting it on but I did not see any additional parts in the box nor did I see anything extra on the old filter there is a small rubber gasket already on the old and new filters but it doesn't look removable. Am I missing something or is that just a generic warning and the filter already has the gasket.
 
I would say generic warning. If it has an o-ring on if you are fine. I always put a coat of oil just with my finger on it. Also make sure it is clean and clear of any old o-ring on the surface where the o-ring seals. Sometimes there is debris left over from the old filter.

Filter should already have the gasket on it. Just make sure that the old gasket came off with the old filter (which it sounds like it did) and you should be good to go. Also, don't use a wrench to tighten the filter. I oil the gasket, turn the filter until it touches the base, then tighten 1/2 - 3/4 turn by hand from there.

The gasket attached to the filter is enough, no extra gaskets or orings. Just dont over tighten.
As for grease - if you want to be on the safe side use generic lithium grease, it is like $3.

Thanks @veedubtek its supposed to be 80 and sunny here on Saturday so I went ahead and knocked most of this out today. It was pretty uneventful other then one quick call to @Andy S to make sure I was spinning the oil filter off the correct way during that call he offered some wonderful words of encouragement " Ugh Robert do I need to call your wife and have her come down there and remove the filters" Thanks for those inspiring words my man lol! The second oil filter was even worse I had to use a oil filter wrench to get it off and even then it really didn't want to budge. All have left is to lube the intermediate bearing and pull the pump cone and lube a few connection points. Thanks you all your help!

$216 at the power sports place - 8 spark plugs, 2- 4 liter jugs Yamalube, 1- 4 liter jug Kawasaki W4 oil, 2 Yamaha oil filters and one Kawasaki Filter.
$36 advanced auto - 4 plugs for the Kawasaki and a T-bar plug remover (best purchase ever I had one that goes on a ratchet but this is awesome super easy with a magnet)
$32 Harbor Freight - grease gun, marine grease, and filter wrench
$59 Tractor supply - liquvac 9 quart oil extractor(Worked great got 8.5 quarts out with out me having to empty it but slow a hell about 20-30 minutes per engine)
= a savings of $557 over the normal price the shops charge me and next year it will be even less!
 
One last question I was going to add grease to the intermediate bearing but was thrown off there was a hose attached to mine that is also attached the engine do I just disconnect this from the pump and put grease in at the pump? Ignore the dirty hull pic sorry have not started cleaning yet that is the early Saturday morning project.

No, there's a little bracket kind of thing that holds it up there. I think it has a black cap on it, if I remember right. It should be towards the back of the engine. I think they meant for it to be easier to access.
 
On my MR-1 there was a bracket with a cap at the back of the motor also. You may want to remove lower hose and pump till fresh grease comes out (onto a rag or something).

Glad you did it yourself. Saves a ton of money. Plus now you know why not to tighten the oil filter to much! You can save more by ordering plugs ahead of time.
 
It's not to tight until you have to hammer a flat head screwdriver through the filter in order to turn it. Been there and done that.

I've done that way to many times doing oil changes for friends and new vehicles.
