SO the wife and I climbed all over a 242XE at the boat show this past weekend. We also spent some time on a 212 Limited S. You know, picking our upgrade path should we win the lottery that we don't play.

As I was opening all the compartments, and peering into the different areas on the 242XE, I found a mystery black box. I have NO idea what this thing is. It's bolted to the floor and appears to have some cables come out of the back. It's in a REALLY awkward position at a wierd angle on the floor of the storage in front of the helm.

My first guess was this was the electronic throttle actuators, but that doesn't seem right. There is certainly an easier way to accomplish that task. Perhaps these are cable actuators for the reverse buckets? Again, seems significantly more complicated that it needs to be.

I opened that the other day. I think it you are correct on one of those two assumptions. I forget which one. But more importantly, inside there is the toggle to go analog if the electronics fail.

These are the electrical to cable actuators for your forward/reverse buckets. @tabbibus is correct, there is a section of your users manual that gives instructions on how to manually actuate in emergency cases.
