What type of grease do you use on your bearing housing?

I picked up some StaLube Marine grease from my local Napa. Can I use it to grease the bearing housing (behind the motor)? Approximately how many pumps?

Not that it matters, but I noticed the current grease is almond colored, and this stuff is blue. It says its water resistant and has a temp reading around 400 degrees so I'm sure it would work, but figured i would ask what others use.

Note: I also use this grease on my shorelander trailer bearings.

That's what I used and haven't had an issue in over 100 hrs. Let's see what others are using. It's only to seal out water not actually lube the bearing.

I'm pretty sure that's the same stuff I used. I used it on my trailer bearings too.

How many pumps do you guys put in, and how often? (I should probably just read the manual huh?)

How many pumps does it take. I failed to lube correctly and almost sunk the boat the line had a small crack in it close to the fitting that area had a ton of grease on it. None on the bearing.fixed and replaced but naturally dont want that to happen again. Shout out to the family who helped tow us home. While I pumped the rushing water pouring in from the failed coupler.

From the manual (pg. 111):

Note: Fill the grease slowly and carefully, because it can damage the hose and joints
@ 10 hour service:
Grease capacity: 33.0 - 35.0 cc (1.11 - 1.18 oz)

Every 100 hours or 6 months:
6.0 - 8.0 cc (0.20 - 0.27 oz)

So 0.20 oz (a little larger than a tube of chap stick) for most of us once per season. Not sure how many pumps the equates to, but I would guess ~5

Yamaha also recommends greasing the steering cable joints and wire, so rather than wiping the excess grease from the fitting into a towel i'll just spread it on the cables in the engine compartment.
