I’ve been looking at the scarab 195 id and the Yamaha 195s. Anyone have a recommendation? I can’t drive them as nothing is available anywhere so im likely going to be putting a deposit down without seeing a boat. If there’s another model you think is better or any for sale, let me know! Thanks!

Sorry forgot to add that we have a wrangler with a tow capacity of 3500lbs so it’s got to be under that unfortunately

I like the looks of the scarab better, but I feel like the Yamaha has better reliability which is why I bought the Yamaha

I have a 195S and we like it! You’ll find yourself wanting a bigger boat, but for its size it is great. My stipulation was it had to fit in my 20’ deep garage, yours sounds like towing capacity. Life is full of compromises. The good thing is the 195S has brakes on the trailer, which you’ll need with that short wheelbase Jeep. It’s a bit loud wide open, but I kinda like that! The cup holders are cheap, probably the worst thing on the boat. I figure I’ll wait until I loose a few of the trim rings and then swap them all out with stainless steel ones. It is a pretty quick boat on the plus side. If you plan to tube a bunch, snake it back and forth a lot! That is unless you want the tuber to experience the sensation of being waterboarded! The jet wash is pretty bad with your face that close to the water! I’d buy mine again.

Where will you be boating? That may help narrow choices. Do you know the major differences between between the two boats? There are compromises on both sides. Depends on what you value most.

Bay saint Louis. I’m on the fence about just trading in my current car and getting something with a higher towing capacity. That way I can go for a dual engine boat at 21ft. My wife owns the wrangler so we’d have that one either way.
