Winch Cover?

This is the first year my trailer will be stored outdoors at the marina for winter. Does anyone have a link for a winch cover? Is this necessary or am i over protecting?

Previously I stored in my garage, but we switched to the high and dry marina this year. Anything else people do to their trailer to prepare for outdoor winter storage?

Never heard of such a thing, but can't imagine it would hurt of course. Amazon seems to show some with elastic at the bottom. Could probably just pop one of those on there...

I’ve used plastic / grocery bags to cover my winches and boat buckles/stern tie down straps during the off season in the past but haven’t done so for years. The idea was to protect the straps. Now I don’t bother, just stabilize the fuel, put some imitation damp rid in the compartments, cover the boat/Waverunners and call it good.

Better idea: Buy Yamalube (you should already own and be using this on everything) and spray your winch a couple times a season to keep it lubed and working.

What's the imitation Damp Rid product you use?

This stuff from my local dollar store. It’s a lot cheaper than real damp rid so I buy 20 for every boat compartment (two or more for the engine compartment and area under the helm where all the electronics / amps are) and two for each Waverunner.

Back on topic, I’ve never winterized my winch but it hasn’t been a problem here in NCal. Basically we only have two seasons, summer and winter. The winters here are mild, rarely does the temp drop below 35 and it snow touches the ground once for a few hours every 25 years or so. I stopped fogging the engines for the same reasons several years ago.
