For all of you pool owners that are in Texas and the Southeast, not accustom to hard freezing temps I thought I would post a link to another great forum. This forum is part of the app that I use called "pool math". If you want to start balancing the chemicals yourself for your pool this app and the associated forum is a wealth of knowledge. Really good tips and tricks and trouble shooting. Below is a link to the pinned discussion on preparing for freezing weather for pools.

Put ours to bed in Nov. for freezing temperatures…

How's the pool holding up @BigN8 ?

So far so good. Got ice stalactites hanging from the water features. I decided to cover the equipment pad with a tarp. After a good amount of precipitation I checked on it then noticed the weight of the precipitation was pulling the tarp down and adding pressure to the pressure relief valve on top of the filter, so I've gone out and removed precipitated several times. I think next time I will add a small bucket to cover the pressure valve.

On the other thread someone had mentioned a loss of power alarm that plugs into the wall, since power seems to always drop in the middle of the night. So I thought, shit, it's too late to buy something like that so what can I do to alarm myself of loss of power. Then that night it dawns on me, I'm my own loss of power alarm!!! As soon as we lose power I'm going to wake up suffocating because I wear a CPAP!! Problem solved.

Pool is 39F this morning. I’m thinking polar plunge after I get a fire going inside later!!!
