I live in Michigan and keep my boat in heated storage for the winter. Should I pull the batteries for the winter?

I would pull them out and put them in a controlled environment if you can. If you don't trickle charge them at least put each one on a slow 2amp charge once a month for a day or 2.

@thomaslees ....it depends. Better quality and different quality batteries discharge at vastly different rates. Also, IMO, leaving a battery on a trickle charger that is not specifically designed to not overcharge your battery is crucial lest you do more damage by charging them than by leaving them alone. I have top-of-the-line (North Star) AGM TPPL batteries. They will remain in the boat - disconnected - until Spring....that is October to May. If you have decent batteries I would charge them, disconnect them and leave them in the boat not on a charger if they are in a heated storage.

Thanks for the help! It is stored in a large Rack and Launch facility so I will pull the batteries, take home and put on a trickle chager.
