Boat's up for the season. Can't wait till next year now that I found this forum. Next year I'm thinking about making a run to block island from Old Say brook.

What steps did you do for winterizing? Need to do mine soon.

I don't like your post as this is coming shortly for me and it will be a sad day. Oh well, guess it becomes shopping time to curb the separation anxiety.

October rolls around and I always pretend like I am going to get out on the boat again. The weekend gets here and its 60 and breezy... and I dig deep trying to motivate myself to get on the water. I usually end up doing work around the house, depressed. Then I depress myself even further thinking how long it will be before it will be warm again.

Had a fantastic October in NC. On Oct 1st water was still 79 with air at a beautiful 83.
Now we have hurricane Mathew coming our way. No more swimming but maybe 1 or 2 more high 70's weekends if we don't blow away.

Winterized mine on Monday... changed oil/filters, marine stabil and topped off gas tank, cleaned/polished with boat bling, took all carpet/stuff out, strategically placed 12 "cab fresh" packets around the cabin, covered/plugged all exterior holes with duct tape, removed batteries/charger and put them in my basement (with removed charger (Minnkota 315D) taking care of the batteries).

Until next year... always a sad day for me. Here she is all buttoned up, ready to go to her winter home in a large morton building at our marina.

I flush the engines with marine anti-freeze, then fog them until they shut off. Stabil in the tank, but i do not fill it. its at a half. Place the battery on a battery maintainer. put dryer sheets everywhere! wrap it up and park it behind my house. I change the oil in spring.

My list of winterizing involves a lot. I do the normal stuff that you guys do, fuel treatment for the winter, pull batteries, damp rid in compartments, marine anti freeze, and fog the engines. Then I have to pull the ballast bags out, pull the subs out, pull all cushions out, put golf tees in the engine cooling ports on the side of the boat, acid wash the hull, and then put a thick coat of wax on the boat and leave it on all winter. When I pull it out of storage in the spring I wipe the wax off and it is shiny and new looking.
You can see the thick coat of wax in this picture.

@jcyamaharider what's the purpose of the golf tee's?

Also, I love the wax idea, I think I'm going to try that. It doesn't collect too much dust or dirt on it over the winter?

The purpose of the golf tees is so mud dobbers (sp?) do not get in there and block your cooling lines. My family has done the wax trick for a good 30 years and has always given the same results. I don't notice an dust of dirt in the wax.
