I'm adding a depth gauge (Humminbird HRD650) to my 2019 SX190 and have a question regarding the wiring. The gauge has 18-gauge positive and negative wires coming out the back and the instructions say to use crimp connectors to connect to the boats power supply, and to add a 1 amp fuse. Wiring and electrical is out of my comfort zone, but I was hoping it would be as easy as adding the crimp connectors to the wires with an inline fuse, and then just plugging into an open connection somewhere under the dash console....but I'm not seeing anything under the dash for adding extra components. Am I missing something obvious? Is there an easy way to tap into the 12v power supply under the dash without having to run wires?

Under my 2020 SX 190 there’s a few empty connectors behind the dash. Just bought a humminbird myself and was planning on using something in there. (Haven’t installed it yet) Just have to get your tester out to insure proper ground and voltage. Installing an inline fuse is a plus.

Best way is to run a whole new circuit from the battery to under the helm to a fuse panel for future expansion. Another way others have done is find the connector under dash labeled GPS and tap into that as it's not used on the 190's

Thanks guys....to demonstrate how little I know about this stuff, what are these 5 things tied together under the dash? Are any of them something I can connect to for power? Additional question: If I plug into one of these sources, will the gauge turn on and off with the boat? Need to ensure it turns off whenever I turn the boat off.

So from what I've read, I should be able to clamp a t-tap on the yellow/red striped wire behind the key switch and another t-tap on the black ground. If I do this, and add an inline 1amp fuse on the hotwire, should I be okay?

I think you could do that but not big on splicing into important circuits like the ignition. I know my 2018 had a plug that looks like the ones you took photo of and it was labeled GPS and was not used, if you dont have one labeled that it might be because it's a different year. Yes if you find a spot to tap in use the inline fuse the device specifies. Good luck my friend
