I ordered a full oil change kit from Amazon:

The oil filters that they list are the 69J-13440-03 and they sent me 69J-13440-04 instead. When I look up the 69J-13440-04 it says that this is the "new" part number and references 69J-13440-03 as the "old" part number:

Anyone replace their oil filters lately that can confirm the part number?

Yamaha part numbers are decoded as follows:

The first section is the first model the part appeared in (69J)

The second section denotes the actual part # (13440)

The last part is the number of revisions to the part (03)

There is actually a newer revised version of that one that ends in 04.

Some may argue that the original version of that one (00) was the best since it had a cloth filter in it and was made in Japan.

But yeah, it’s fine, the middle number is key.

...And if anyone remembers what kind of vehicle 69J was that would be cool!
