Hey guys having trouble finding engine coupler rotational play................I remember 4 years ago reading the gap size on the engine coupler play in the factory dealers repair manual.
I put a Micrometers on it today and need the spec's min/max play......... I have spent 2 hours with no luck in the service manual.

Any help would be apricated

2 to 4 mm between the cages where they meet and very important that it is even on every spot. Thats how you can tell the motor is properly aligned

Thanks guys........ both engines started and died and sound like they were coming apart ...sounded like the couplers were knocking....both engines. Anyway after sounding like hell and both engine shaking and dying I got boat back in cradle/lift and started diagnosing the problem. I also got an alarm for batt volts, on a 2 year old Everstart platinum AGM glass matt battery and the on board charger showed full batts in the maintain mode. Engine turned over just a little slow but started fairly easy but after running for 10 seconds or so, it start banging/shaking and had a nasty noise from the couplers.....before abruptly dyeing. Easy restart.

Took AGM to wallyworld and the batt tested vary vary poor their tester had more than one red flag and said replace........NOT liking EVERSTART PLATINUM AGM....but with that said they gave me a new one under the warranty the new batt is only warranted for the remaining 1.75 years of the old batt.

New battery start....... port engine smooth as silk as usually.......starboard engine better but still a little rough..........sheeesh 2 problems at once bad plugs on starboard engine, Amazon to the rescue 2 sets of LFR6A plugs 50 bucks 1 day delivery and starboard running like a Swiss watch. I did change plugs on both.

Still shaking head as to a Yamaha system that won't run after engine starts.......what a weak system any car or boat I have ever owned once started or jumped would run normal on the Alternator at lease you could drive to the store and get a new battery. Rant off!!! Thanks Neutron for the help on the coupler spec...... they check out vary good and both look new and my aliment was dead on. The rubber coupler inside was not showing any unusual wear also..............feel much better now.

Great that you got it sorted out.
motorcycle and jetski charging systems are very low amperage. Car alternators today are well over 100amps while these engines are 35ish amps so a battery with a bad cell or low cranking amps will show on the ignition system and make it miss. Motorcycles are the same way.
