OK, change in plans. My cover is TOAST... my attempts to clean it have made it worthless. Luckily, I have temporary access to a pole building where I can store it while not in use as we've been getting a lot of rain.
I've been referred to an Amish canvas maker who doesn't advertise, only word-of-mouth and he's CHEAP and BUSY. I couldn't get in until the end of July. Several people where we boat said they wouldn't go anywhere else.
I called him today and got the appointment. I'm going to drop off the boat at the end of July, and he's going to go over the fabric options. He won't make a cover without the boat there to make sure that it's a perfect, custom fit. W were discussing fabrics, and he said that Sunbrella is NOT for towing. I tend not to tow with the cover on anyways, because it's not a long drive to the river for us, but I think I want to be able to have that option in case we go on some longer trips with the boat. The other two options he gave me were WeatherMax and Top Gun. He's telling me that with proper support and design it could handle our snowfall here. He gave me an approximate maximum cost of $500 or so, even while including Sunbrella in the list of fabric options!
Looking into these other two fabrics now...
