Yamaha Connext Systems questions.

Too many questions I have…

1) Do I need to spend money in another gps system? 2)Connext system have auto routing or point to point gps route without taking in consideration depth etc?
3) Connext system integrate with other systems? Like weather radars or garmin i dont know, to any other that I should have in consideration when upgrading boat?
4) Can the maps be updated?
5) Can the firmware be upgraded?

1,2. I use Navionics for route planning. The Connext is somewhat limited.
3. I do not think so. It's a proprietary system that does not use industry standard protocols.
4. Probably, but only by the dealer. I have searched for a do it yourself method but have not found anything on the internet.
5. See #4.

If others have been able to update without a dealer visit, lots of us would like to know how...
