Yamaha Electric Boat

I would love to swap my gas powered motorcycle engines for a couple of electric motorcycle motors. They do whine a bit but I could tolerate that.

If you watch what Yamaha is doing as a company, they are really positioning themselves to be a leader in electrification, they are pioneers in e-bike motors, this automotive retrofit is a fascinating concept, agricultural robotics and drones, they are making very strategic investments and Laying the groundwork for a very interesting future.

Reading the drop in concept got me thinking.
could be a drop in retrofit for a slightly older boat too. If the kit was set up right. I can imagine it would actually be pretty easy! Just pop electric motor on to current motor mounts, pull fuel tank out through the floor and drop in a battery bank, run charging wires up to and replace old gas cap. Bing, bang, boom.... electric boat goes zoom!

I bet, it actually wouldn’t be that hard (compared to a car atleast) to drop in retrofit for a slightly older boat too. If I think about my 2017 212X - I can imagine it would actually be pretty easy! Just pop electric motor/motors onto current motor mounts, pull fuel tank out through the floor (easy to remove hatch) and drop in a battery bank, run charging wires up to and replace old gas cap. Use current APU to control throttle since it already digitizes the analogue signal from the binicle.

Bing, bang, boom.... electric boat goes zoom!
