I’m looking at buying a 1999 yamaha exciter 270. One of the engines is blown. Never owned a jet boat so not sure what I’m looking at. Seller says the starboard engine rod is thru the block. Wondering how much that would cost to fix or if it would even be worth the time. Any help is appreciated.

I would price out a complete engine and figure you will lose the core charge since it threw a rod
Check SBT for pricing
Would you be doing the repair yourself?
If not check with local marine repair places for price of complete job.
And make sure whatever the original problem which made is throw a rod is addressed

What price is he asking for it? I don’t know that you want to buy a project with summer coming up. Maybe something like that you get in August and mess with it over the winter to get it running. You will spend a lot of time getting everything running right.

Just my opinion

Aloha, the Exciter’s r awesome fun boats. If u r into “RIPPING IT UP”, then that is the boat to do it on. A 16’ boat with 270hp, if u not hanging on u will get thrown out the boat or fall flat on the deck lol. A blown motor will be a few thousand for sure, but will be well worth it if the boat is in good condition other then the motor. Of coarse this is just my opinion, but good luck and post some pics if u do decide to get her.??

check with S B T in Clearwater Florida for a price on an exchange rebuilt they will also decide if your core is any good or not if not check for some P W C's with the same engines may cost a lot less to buy one and use the parts for your boat If you are not a boat mechanic you may want to reconsider unless you are getting it for 500 dollars or less with a trailer do not pay more that you can recover if it turns out to be a lost cause 2 stroke engines are not in demand like years ago
