Afternoon everyone,

While researching boat worthy portable grills I came across one that peaked my interest. It's the Blaze Professional LUX Marine Grade Portable Propane Gas Grill. Here's where you can find it... Blaze Website, BBQGuys Websit.

It has some features I'd like to have, it's not much more than a mid-sized MAGMA, looks to be better quality and materials... But, it's heavy! The grill alone is 51lbs. The MAGMA Newport that's all over Yamaha's website is less than 20lbs.

I can't find any literature that lists any form of weight capacity for the mounting bracket and stanchion tube that would be used to have either grill off of the swim deck. I can only assume that the MAGMA Newport will work as it's advertised for that purpose. Questions is, how much more weight can it handle? Enough to support the Blaze?

I'm thinking I may be reaching beyond that bracket's ability... Anyone have any experience with anything similar to this?

Any suggestions would be a great help.

Hope you're having a good weekend.

I don’t think I’d want 51 lbs pulling against the plate the table post slides into. Not without adding some reinforcement on the backside IMO.

haknslash,

Our boat won't be here until March-ish. So, I don't have the ability to do any poking around yet. That being said, once I saw the specs on the MAGMA, I pretty much figured the Blaze was going to be out of the question in that situation.

Just wanted to hear it from someone in the know, so to speak.

Thank you for the help.

How about a custom stanchion that also has a small second leg extension with a larger pad to rest on the swim platform to carry the weight?

HangOutdoors,

That might work. Spent some time going through some of the creations in the photo gallery of JewsCustoms and there's some items there that would do the trick with some smaller grills that are contenders.

Is that your handy work?

No. But I bought custom stanchions from him for grill as well as umbrellas two different sizes and the quality is fantastic.

If you reach out to him he will customize something for you and has different colors as well.
