The wave forecast trend approaching Labor Day looks pretty good. What I am seeing is 2' to 3' for the 29th and 30th trending down to 1' by the 1st. The question is when it will trend back up.
Hoping 1-5. Realistically 2-5. We're not leaving NC until Wednesday evening. 7pm likely, but maybe as late as 11pm. 12-13 hr haul won't leave much time to cross Thursday, unless we can iron-man the drive. Which is the plan. But we're also not as young as we once were...
The Sands is good in that they'll at least hold your deposit a year (actually longer) for a later time. Dirk made a deposit in May? 2014, for the June trip, and we ended up using it in July 2015. We actually don't have anything lined up yet, but hoping to have it hammered down tomorrow.
Windfinder is the wave data source that I trust the least but the only source I have for a 10 day forecast. They are showing 1.1' for Port Everglades and 1.0' for Bimini the morning of the third.
If you can cross with Dirk and Walt I would highly recommend doing so. The forecast for the first is just as good, more certain, there is safety in numbers and they have experience combined with a very capable boat.
