guys,
My kid sucked up a rock in her ski and it's jammed behind the impellar.

Anyone familiar with the best method to remove the rock?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pull the pump to free the rock. How to do so will depend on the make and perhaps model.

Are you currently out on the water? Or is this on dry land at this point?

@jeff_s. As @Bruce said, you can pull the pump or you can remove the spark plugs which will allow you to move the impeller either way to remove the rock.

I found the YouTube video that shows a guy pulling the impeller and shaft but after watching the video and comparing it, it wouldn't work on a 2017 model.

Then I was reading somewhere else to flip the ski over and remove the grate on the bottom.

So I'm not really getting a clear picture here and I don't just want to start taking things apart and less I'm doing the correct steps.

Dry land. I apologize if I created a scare…
No need to apologize. . . . just for reference we try to only use the "help" feature that @Chuckbig activated for on water emergencies.

Near water emergencies (time of launch, etc. . . ) also totally acceptable, as well as many other uses I am sure most in the group would be ok with.

We just try to minimize it's usage for when urgent help is needed. . . . so people signed up for emergency response don't get numb to it's use.

No worries at all. Like I said, we just don't want to overuse it to the point people get numb to it.

There are a lot of people here that have huge experience & expertise in skis. @Cobra Jet Steering LLC may have some thoughts, for example. Note: he lives in Florida, so he may be quite busy

I'd start by rolling the ski over on its side if it is beached or by laying on the ground under it if it is on a trailer. After removing the intake grate see if you can get at the rock through the front of the impeller. If not try doing so from the rear through the steering and thrust nozzles as well as the mechanical stator (looks like an impeller with fixed blades that are angled opposite the impeller.

If this doesnt work you will have to pull the impeller and shaft out the back. Being a newer waverunner it may be configured a little differently than an older model but the basics should be the same. That is, disconnect the steering rod from the nozzle, detach the steering nozzle, then the thrust nozzle before removing thr bokts that hold the stator, impeller and shaft in place. Once this is done these three parts should slide easily out of the back as a single assembly.

Thanks for all your help!

I ended up removing the two plates under the ski, this way I could pry off the pump housing from the ski body.

Then I was able to slightly smack the rock from the back and it loosened it right up and fell out.

What a pain In the arse. But Operation BFR removal is over.

And I know a little more about the ski. D798F514-C794-4342-9E74-F8FC40BE39C8.jpeg

Two plates? Was one the intake grate?

@Ronnie yes. The intake (smaller thin plate) and the big plate under the jet pump housing.

The intake grate overlaps the big plate.

I basically undid every damn bolt. Lol
