So my Cockpit kit arrived last week and I realized I never really ask the question, has anyone had buyers remorse after moving to seadek and if so why ??

I never did on my boat when I had it. It was comfortable, changed the look of it drastically. The only thing was it got hot compared to the bare deck. But splash some water in it and it was fine after that. I’m also in S Fl so the sun really heats things up. I want to get the helm pad for my boat now to help absorb the long days on the water. Sea Dek cleans up very well with some simple green and a stiff brush. Mainly I just hit it with the hose called it a day.

No seadek on my boat yet, but believe that you just need to be mindful when setting thinks like wakeboards on it. I had a hydro turf kit on a previous boat and the day after i installed it a guest put a single water ski on it and the skeg cut a groove in the huydro turf.

Actually I do have a regret. I regret that the intoxicating smell of new SeaDek and adhesive goes away :(. My garage smelled so good for weeks after my install :D

No regrets at all! Except i wish our great dane would just jump off and not have to be pushed off to go ashore... she has put a dimple or two on it.

Be a bit careful with sharp edged metal objects, like tentpole end (if it is without a cap), or wakeboard fins - SeaDek can be cut.

However, for me, it was great in every other way.

I managed to deglove the skin from my right heel this summer and bled like a stuck pig all over the SeaDek. Came right out with just a bit of Simple Green and minimal effort.

Very comfortable on the feet.

MUCH less maintenance than those damned snap-in carpets.

Wear & tear barely noticeable after 3 seasons of use.

Family loved it. One of my favorite mods.

Edit: one more minor caution - it can take on a dent / impression from longer term point pressure (if you leave an anchor on it overnight, if a tentpole rests directly on it during storage, etc). Note a folded towel under the tentpole worked perfectfully to prevent any issues.

Had mine in for 3 seasons now @Evil Sports and still love it. I get a lot of compliments about look and feel.

Great suggestion @GTBRMC! I'm going to be putting my SeaDek in come spring and was wondering what the anti pooling poles for the storage cover would do to it. now, I'll just put a microfiber cloth under each and call it good!

Peeling that old stuff off ... let's just say it is what it is (and it isn't easy).

I'm just glad when doing the inside I don't have any old stuff to peel off. just have to remove some snaps, put some 3200 in the holes and sand a bit to flatten out.

There is no need to sand the non-skid bare floor when installing SeaDek. Just make sure to have a clean, bare surface using Acetone, apply the SeaDek firmly and you're good to go.

Good to know...

By sanding, I was thinking that I'll have to remove the snap bases from the old carpet. From there, my thought was to add some 5200 to the places where the snap bases come out (to keep provide a base under those areas), then level and sand just those areas. But come to think of it, I may be able to just use a putty knife to level out the 5200.

Does that make sense?

The snap bases are only held in by Phillips head screw. Maybe it's different on your boat? Just use a screwdriver or drill with Phillips bit to remove the snaps, fill with sealant, clean surface and apply SeaDek. No need to reuse or do anything with the snaps in your carpet, just leave them in it and sell your carpet with the snap bases you remove from the bare floor.

I had one area (corner) start to roll up. I cleaned the area carefully, and used a small dab of contact cement. Cant tell there was ever a lift and its held beautifully. Beside that, Seadek has been the best upgrade I could think of. Wife said from day 1 that it gave the boat an upscale look and feel. All friends have commented on it and asked about it. Our small dog appears to like the grip she gets on it and it stays cool enough for our comfort and hers. I have noticed that our red Georgia clay does get into it and I have to clean it ASAP when returning from our lake day. Boat gets washed every outing anyway, so it seems to be wearing well. I agree anything sharp will cut it, be aware of sharp skegs.

Also worth mentioning that if you intend to clean it with a pressure washer, I wouldn't do it with anything higher than 2000 PSI and a nozzle less than 45°. Keep the nozzle at a minimum several inches away and never right up close to the SeaDek as it can/will tear from the high pressure stream of water. I found this out the hard one on a very small area on my swim deck but it's not noticeable as I caught it just in time.

I clean mine by using Simple Green, scrub brush and a 2000 psi electric pressure washer (more realistically mine is probably closer 1600-1800 PSI) with 45° nozzle. I do not use the pressure washer nozzle close to the surface of the SeaDek making sure I keep it several inches away to act more like a large fan than use it for blasting away dirt and grime.
