Well, they are in and as you can see much different than the Solas I had in there. We are going to try to go out this week and test them. Skat-Trak tuned them to perform good for boating as well as flyboarding. We shall see. I also added some put of how the quick nozzle connects.

Looking forward to the Flyboard video.
Why do you need dual impellers? How do they effect performance?

It helps pre load the pump so we don't have cavitation at higher RPMs. Here are a few links:

Curious what the dual impellers due to top speed and hole shot. @Speedling might like this thread.

You and me both!! Glenn at Skat-Trak said if they don't perform as expected he will tweak them for free, since we will both learn something. He hasn't built them for a boat yet and I haven't seen anything in a 4 stroke boat do flyboarding. Should be interesting!

Flyboarding... interesting. You need to preload the pump because the forward momentum of the boat isn't pushing water into the pump. Makes sense. From what I've read on some other forums is that they can be used on pumps of the hot rod jet boats for the hole shot, mainly the ones where they do drag races.
As for top speed, our pumps don't have a loading problem really when they are moving. They actually probably load too much into the pumps and I am working on getting my intake grate off (stripping the bolt head ) so I can see if there is a decent way to do that, or make a custom intake grate. For the boats, it's a very delicate balance between how much volume and velocity you need/want and the intake being adjustable can make the whole boat a different animal all together.
Thanks for @ing me, I love that feature, along with the alerts! No need to waste time going back and searching every thread I ever made to see if someone wanted to reference me :)

Interesting you mention reducing the capacity of the intake. I was thinking it might be helpful to have something mounted to the intake grate that covers the drive shaft to prevent seaweed, tow ropes, etc from wrapping around it. Something like a pipe mounted to the intake grate that you would mount then slide the drive shaft through so that the drive shaft spins within the tunnel, safe from wrapping.

You mean like SeaDoo's and all the new jet boats? LOL I am sure there will be a lot of opinions on that.
I mean more like (not to spoil my ideas) cutting the two bars, shortening it or putting it on some sort of a slider system and being able to slide the sloped part of it forward to create a smaller opening to the intake. This in turn creates a less volume/greater velocity effect.

Basically our jet pumps are tuned for crazy good torque out of the hole. This is why guys in Shelbyville can pull 4 at a time. Guys like me that don't do any tow sports (kids are too small and we have no one to spot) so we do cruising and I like a top speed run from time to time. So, I hope to test something this year, but we'll see!!!
Top speed with that dual impeller setup?

Don't know much about those setups but it makes sense. Another thing that might be cool along your line of thinking would be a snap in liner...if such a thing was even possible. Something to smooth out the flow into the jets so we can stop worrying about our silicone being good or not. Different size liners could change the size/shape of the intake.

Problem with most ideas is that it has to be strong enough and secure enough to NOT drop into the pump. There was an idea out there for a rubber bladder type of system that as the water went past it, it would suck it in, creating the velocity increase in relation to speed. It was some military product that didn't get released to the public, so not actually made. I am thinking of either making the center section that is secured to the intake grate slide forward, and thus creating a smaller intake to the pump, AND, it would create a second slope for the water to go up, like a top loader intake. So it could be beneficial in both ways.
I don't remember where I read it, but there is a part of the intake grate top loader design that they make for the ski's that is meant to have the center blade NOT scoop water, but to direct what gets in there at lower speeds, but then at high speeds it planes out to not suck water for part of the intake. The loading ramp of it simply limits the amount of water coming in at that speed.
lol, don't make me recreate all my work. I wanna find something that WORKs and then i'll report in a seperate thread.

Very interesting concept in impellers. How do you intend to test them. Did you record performance with the Solas first so you have data to compare?

Well, I have had the solas for a year and I think I know them enough to feel a difference. I have added so much weight to my boat (7 batteries, 6 10 inch subs with custom boxes) that I am not concerned with top speed. I just want to make sure I can still pull the kids on the HO Sports ION without issue. Here are a few more pics:

Had the first trip with the new impeller setup. First the flyboarding was great!! no cavitation at all! Lost about 5mph on top speed but the hole shot was excellent. I think these will work out well for us. We don't usually go super fast and when we are not flyboarding we are towing the kids on the tube.
