@MrMoose how much space is behind the 3rd row in the armada? We’re looking at the Yukon XL/Suburban because the Tahoe is just so short on storage space now that the 3rd row seats are in constant use.
Going from memory (not verified by specs), the space behind the 3rd row in the Armada is more than the Durango and the Yukon Denali, and nowhere near the Denali XL or Esv Cadi. My two boys loved the idea of the Cadi Esv for a road trip where they'd each get their own row and there'd still be room for the luggage in the back.

Haha exactly. When I switched from my dodge ram 1500 I could not believe how much higher I had to Jack up the boat to get it onto the escalade's hitch. The best feature is the air ride system. When the trailers weight sits on the hitch, the compressor kicks in and keeps the back end level. Only problem is when I step on the tongue it kicks on so I feel like a fat-ass :woot:

I went from 06Tahoe xl to a 17 armada platinum . The space behind 3rd is way smaller but you can get 2 good size suitcases on their side back there. If you need lots of space xl is way to go but daily hauler w kids you can get decent amount of groceries back there, put 3rd row down and you got plenty of room for s?$!

Toyota Sequoia should be a consideration. Will tow your boat with ease. Better resale (try finding a late model used one, buy new). You wont be dissapointed with quality or resale. Real tranny, no cylinder deactivation crap. Test one out. No frills, but is a workhorse!

Lexus LX 570.
Same as or better than land cruiser and you get the Lexus service. Easier to park than a sequoia. Better off-road than almost anything.
Hell no. Not for towing. As a personal driver - yes, absolutely, but not as a boat hauler. LC and LX570 are VERY different.

The 2018 Seq actually has a rear suspension pneumatic height adjustment, but one needs to get a Platinum trim to get that. And then you are stuck basically driving a Tundra with a huge cabin, lol.

EDIT: I think I cross-posted with @jim r wisco

Wait! They brought the Excursion back!?
I think he meant Expedition. Those are NICE. I was very surprised to be honest - with a test drive. Even the 3.5 sounds great with those turbos. I would also not need the long base and still be awesome hauler, which would help using it as an everyday driver.

That is actually a very serious contender. My only hesitation comes from it being the first year afterva major remodel and I am not sure what to think about the longevity of those ecoboost engines. I try to keep my vehicles forever, so that's a concern. If I knew I would be trading it in in the next 5 years or so - I think an 18 Expedition with that trailer assist would be a no-brainer!

Two comments:

First, had a Sequoia. Did fine with the boat. Fine vehicle. Big.

Second, traded that for an Audi Q7 (the current vehicle). Also does fine with the boat. Wife loves it. Third row is small, but these days I ride back there (all the boys are bigger than I am). It is doable. Not saying I would want to spend several days back there, but doable. All time 4wd is great and very solid in all situations.

We are having the same discussion at my house. My wife wants a Tahoe, but they are way too much money for what it is. I'm looking at the Mercedes GLS 450 and the Durango SRT. The SRT is rated for 8500 lbs, and comes with launch control as a bonus.

Not to hijack.
I’ve had an eye on the GMC Canyon Denali for a while now. So I Went truck shopping this weekend. Wife wanted to come - sure - why not.
So salesman has got my ear offering all kinds of deals and incentives on Sierras and no deals on Canyons - the lot has 200+ Sierras and Silverados, but only 3 Canyons. He tells me every Canyon sells within days of receiving them.
Look around for my wife to discuss this dilemma - she’s nowhere to be found.
I eventually found her ass in the all new 18’ Traverse. She is so excited and wants to show me this thing.

I leave in frustration.
I go home and tell my 16yo son. He calmly looks at me and says “So when does Mommy pick up her new car?”
:(

I tow AR 240 through the Ozark hills with a Sequoia and it does a good job.

No, I wasn't kidding. But I am in no way an LC aficionado! So - I apologize for my tone!!! (Yes, my co-workers call me tone-deaf all the time).
But - in all seriousness - I would not consider LX over LC for towing, no way. The LX570 is rated at just 7,000lbs which is marginal. It is softer and it runs on premium gas, has different fuel maps and different traction controls - by a long stretch. Also different, more restrictive (quiet) exhaust. AND it is more expensive.

The only thing they did was direct injection to give 10 more horses. It suck for me having to change from the act 4 tuner to the n guage.

As far as tow beasts. The Nissan 5.6 and the Toyota both are incredible engine and tranny combos. I just could never get the fuel economy towing. When the tundra changed bodies to the current and lost the flat floor in the back. I was bummed

I had stillen (wifes) armada and it has the sweetest exhaust note.

Tow rating?
7,400lbs
But that is the same drive train/truck frame as Tundra - that goes up to over 10,000 lbs towing capacity.
A Sequoia with the rear pneumatic load leveling can pull fine, unfortunately it is a feature of the Platinum trim - pushing the price a little high for that truck, if you ask me.

I would cross GLS450 off of your list... terrible gas mileage, sluggish engine(unless you jump to a GLS550), Afterall its a GLE with extra room in the back and drives like one. couldn't recommend for towing.

But then again, I only drove 1 time(towing, several non towing), and I normally drive a Ram1500 CrewCab 4x4
