I really have no idea what caused a very straight line 3/4 of an inch long in the filter to start leaking, it looked like a razor blade made the line from the inside of the filter causing it to leak without warning.
It probably had a flaw in the metal used to make the filter housing.
I have used those Motorcraft fl-910s filters year after year with no issues.
I am noticing the housing material is very thin so I plan on changing from these to a Fram ph-3600 as the cases feel a lot heavier and the filter is a bit longer.
