what kind of phone holder do you use for your smartphone/chart plotter?

My chartplotter is on a RAM mount. No mount for my phone.

I want to get something that can move from boat to truck and truck to many other trucks since i drive several different trucks for work.
I tried the ones that clip to vents and they don't seem to work between vehicles well.
I may try a suction cup mount. Problem is something to hold steady on a rough day

I use the QuadLock case for my phone, and have mounts in my cars, garage, house, armband, etc. They just came out with a mount that looks like it would attach to the windshield support bar on our boats. they have a suction cup mount as well, but that one does not lock the phone into the mount. Any of their mounts with the blue tab will lock the phone into orientation and the mount, you have to pull the tab and twist to release. Very secure in my experience.

I'll be snagging one of those in the spring to try on the boat.

Im a huge fan of Nite Ize products and have the Steelie Freemount Dash Kit installed on the dash in the boat to hold the phone.

When I ordered it, I was concerned that the magnet wouldn't be strong enough to hold the phone on rough lake days with lots of bouncing around from wakes, but it works perfectly!

Same here!

A friend sold me on nite ize twist ties for fender hanging, I thought I liked tying hitches to hold the fenders until I found how easy the twist ties were!

I run a RAM suction mount in the boat, the car, the truck, and sometimes in the house (suction cup to counter and stick the phone on PBS Kids for the little one to watch). It was pricey, but is SUPER versatile and works exceptionally well.

I also have the "short" arm for the setup--> http://a.co/d/6DSKdEi

That must be the yeti of cell phone holders $$

Ram screw on mounts are great but the suction cup mounts may not be best for hot and sunny weather depending on mount loaction. While in Bimini with no cover on my boat for days the plastic reinforcement inside the rubber suction cup degraded and fell apart making the suction cup useless. The rest of the mount is great and I was able to temporily mount it someplace else using screws that were already there. The suction cup that degraded spent its whole 3 month life on the windshield and was exposed to lots of heat even with the mooring cover on.

Kinda....I think it's like the Pelican of cellphone holders. It's definitely pricey, but has worked extremely well for me and gets tossed around and beat up quite a bit.

I started using RAM mounts when I was a voice/data cabling tech. Had a laptop mount in the service van, as well as on my tool cart. Those things saw some SERIOUS abuse and never broke. I've had the suction cup mount for about 7 years or so now, and it still looks brand new and works great.
