Ok guys I’m done replacing bulbs looking for a full LED replacement for both sides. Thinking like take the old one off and smash it and put a new LED unit on. :winkingthumbsup" Do you guys have any recommendations on a preferred vendor or part number?

I bought this one 2 weeks ago. Works so far and is nice a bright. I haven't put it in the water yet but I have no worries.

My brother and I wound up re-wiring the whole trailer as I had grounding issues all over the place last year. I also rewired the shorelander 5 pin plug to 7 pin on the trailer and my Jeep.

Took most of a Saturday but now I know the wiring is done right throughout the trailer.

I second the Optronics TLL160RK Red LED light kit. Installed and work/look great. Big improvement over stock. On Amazon too!

I replaced the lights on our 190 trailer as soon as I got it home with this kit from Harbor freight. I see its $39 now, it was cheaper a few years ago and I used their 20% off coupon and brought them home immediately. Have used them for 4 years with no problem.

Just a piece of advice. You still should unplug your LED trailer lights when going underwater. LED is not as susceptible to popping the bulb like incandescent but waterproof does not always mean waterproof.

That is great. You were able to find better quality lights. I installed encased LED lights on my trailer and several of the Diodes on the light matrix module went out from the moisture. I just got in the habit of disconnecting.

For my jet ski trailer, I bought a non-LED light from Walmart, I dunked it once, and it died in a few weeks. Opened it up and the salt water had eat away everything inside. Unbelievable. It looked like they were on there for 3+ years.

For my boat trailer, the original shoreland'r led lights are flickering and dying one-by-one. I ordered the Optronics and will see how they last.

I got the Optronics TLL160RK Red LED Combination Tail Light Kit, from Amazon. I think it was about $40.00
Did you just hook the ground wire to the current ground wire on your trailer (or did you hook it to the ground wire on your trailer and ground it as well)?

I just connected new lights to existing wiring.

Each light should have a white wire with a metal ring. The ring goes under the mounting screw. That is your ground.

I replaced my bulbs after 3 seasons, so on the 9th season with LEDs and never unplug.

I unplugged when I launched in fresh water because the cold water would bust the incandescent bulbs. Even though I have LEDs now I still unplug because I launch in salt water and found the wires corrode faster when in salt water when powered. Insulation is not water proof. Not so bad if wire is tinned but the wire on cheap light corrode quickly. Just my preference and a habit to save me from having lighting problems.

Ok so then what did you do with the existing white wire that is coming out of the trailer?

That connects to the connection plug between your truck and trailer. Should be brown for both brake lights, yellow and green for turn signals and white for ground.

I cut the rings off and connected the white wires to existing ground (white) in wire harness.

That should work. The entire trailer is the ground assuming it is a conducting metal. Most people ground each light to the frame then attach the white wire to the trailer itself near the connector.
