Got a violation alert from my marina!

If your boat sits in an uncovered slip, go solar on a trickle charger. My dock won't allow long term use of the 110 so I had to do that. The nice thing is there's never any word about some dufus unplugging you for some reason....every day there's light, the trickle charger charges your house battery (which is really the one that needs the charging over the summer).

I agree with @Matt Phillips, having an extension cord might not be the best solution. Does the place you're storing the boat have any rules or regulation regarding for or against this? Are you able to see what others are doing?

What I ended up doing was getting a real Marine extension cord from box to boat. Then inside boat use an adapter and connect the charger to that.

The ez AC/DC kit looks nice but seems like overkill for a battery charger.

My dock neighbor went crazy and has an AC panel, inverter and his boat interfaces direct to the 30amp cord

I think I’m going to go @tabbibus route and get the cord and put the dongle in the boat and be done with it.

I think an external power port (110) to the outside of the boat with the dongle could be less secure, safe.

Similarly, @the MfM i think the 30AMP into AC in the boat is overkill for just a charger.

That will work fine. I just zip tie the extension cord by the plug so it can’t go anywhere.
