Having engine problems.need help

Hello boaters.this is my first posting.i found my way here unfortunately cause I just bought a 2013 sx240 and am having problems with the port side engine.I found the 4th cylinder had a stripped spark plug threads and the coil pack was missing half the boot and the bottom of the coil pack burned away..i placed a save a thread Heli coil in it and new coil pack and took it out .got out on water and plug hole was filled with oil.took head cover off and picked out pieces of diminished gasket.installed new gasket, changed oil,took out and ran for 10 min and started losing rpm.slowed down and the engine died.now acts like it's locked up.starter clicks won't turn over.pulled plugs and all look good.no shavings in oil.starter just clicks with plugs in or out.what the heck??? Anyone have an idea? 35 k and nothing but problems with first jet boat.dealer I bought from is floored and said they work with me but don't work on jet boats.anyone have any thoughts? I took to jet boat dealer and they can't get to it for 3 weeks.please someone tell me this isn't a bad engine

Look down pump and see if you have blockage? If you take pump off, it may be easy to tell if engine locked up?
May be a bad starter if you can't get engine to turn over at all and all you hear is click. One or two batteries.
How easily does other on start?
You can try jumping solenoid to see if it cranks over.
Did you check any connections that could of come loose.

Luckily you'll have parts from 2nd engine to test if electrical. You risk what happened to first one though.

Thats how I would approach it for now until someone with more experience chimes in.

Thanks for your time and reply.one battery and it turns the other engine over good.i have not taken off pump yet.is it a possibility that the pump could have bearings seize up?

From what I read these 1.8 engines are pretty good??mine have 350 hrs on them.

The earlier MR1, 1018cc, 1800cc all have been know to have many hundred hours.
The 1018 cc was used in jetski rental fleet

Open throttle so you can see down pump
Then get underneath with your camera.
There have been rocks large pieces of wood, anything your pump sucked up keeping motor to turn over.

Was it making any noise to think bearing locking up? Pretty sure you would have water pouring in if bearing in intermediate housing failed.

I just searched. I think your boat SX240 HO has the 1800cc engines which are the latest and most powerful non supercharged engine.
The supercharged engine uses the same 1800cc engine but changes compression to run supercharger. Go fast.....

I did fail to mention that it did throw a check engine signal just before it died and for some reason it almost seems like I remember that I heard it sounding like I could hear exhaust.maybe I'm losing it.

mechanical wise you know air>fuel>spark>boom.
Pump wise its a few bolts for a housing that impeller sits in with very little clearance Not much science there, but a lot can get stuck in there.

Useful information. Disregard last ideas. You need to find yamaha code reader. Not sure if codes can be pulled by pressing gauge buttons??

Are you on the water or on trailer?
1. you can remove all 4 spark plugs and try to spin the motor by hand
a. If pump impeller stuck, motor won't turn.
b. if shaft bearing is stuck, motor won't turn
2. check impeller
2a. on water remove cleanout plug and feel with hand
2b. on trailer look under boat into the impeller intake and exit with flashlight. A 1/4" piece of wood can stop an impeller and prevent and engine from spinning.
2c. should see tiny (feeler gauge to 1/8" gap around entire impeller diameter, not touching the wear ring.

if motor spins freely by hand. Move to check
1. solenoid
2. starter
3. voltage with meter at starter (could be internal corroded positive or negative cable
4. ground wire to motor
......
engine not started could be related to your spark plug problem, or it could be something different problem.

Ok thanks.tommorrow I will go to the dealer where I dropped it off and just pull the pump in the lot.i will take my metric socket set and wrenches

I did remove all spark plugs and engine will not turn over.is it a possibility a pump blockage would cause a check engine on the guage?I will update info on current local
