Hey 210 FSH owners. Anyone having issues with the boat shifting after loading and laying on the port side fender?

The boat loads nice on the trailer, has an even gap over both fenders after pulling it out of the water. The boat seems to settle while driving and rests on that port fender.

You can see it resting on the fender after trailering:

Anyone else experiencing this? What was the fix? My dealer says they have never had any issues with these trailers since it’s self leveling.

Do you trailer your boat a lot? We are about a hour from the Chesapeake Bay and hit some bumpy patches. Not sure if it’s just bouncing around a bit?

Do you have straps on the back? I usually stop hard after pulling out the water, then tighten my straps up. Some guys hit a few speed bumps then go tighten them up. Look at your bunks and see if they are positioned correctly.

I got new heavy duty ratchet straps hoping that would solve the issue. The bunks looks good to me, everything is on the same holes on all 4. The dealer is going to look at the bunks to make sure nothings off. I’ll give the hard stop a try. I do stop after about 5-10 minutes to make sure everything is tight on the front and rear.

I’ve launched about 15 times this season so I’ve tried all different depths and various methods of cranking and powering on and both....

It's a pretty light boat, it's probably hoping because it's not secured well enough.

mine did that a few times. I dunked the trailer so the bunks get wet all the way to the front and pulled the trailer a little further out than normal. Powered on most of the way and cranked the rest. Hard to say how far out or how much of the fenders should be out because the ramp slopes are all different.

I've tried different things including how far the trailer is backed into the water and I can't figure out a rhyme or reason. It just seems like it doesn't center good when pulling the trailer out of the water. Sometimes it'll list slightly to starboard but mostly its port. It hardly ever comes out perfect.

Try not pulling so far down in the water and run it up on the trailer, you may have to crank a little more but it will stay straight. I pull down to where my front fenders are just above the waterline. Is most of the weight on the boat on port side?

Great thought. Only thing in the boat extra would be the fuel. Everything else is offloaded to the truck before we head out. Not sure where the fuel tank sits but the gas cap is on that side.

Batteries are on port side, you probably are favoring the port side while your driving ( big guy?) The fuel tank is centered right under your feet at the helm.

Batteries would be the only heavy thing.

I find my trailer to be remarkably self-leveling. I also usually pull out with passengers in the boat. I ask them to center themselves as I begin to pull out and then wiggle from side to side to get it to really set in there.

@Dixemon your comment about the hard braking is funny. I thought I was the only one aiming for the speed bumps :D

The one thing I haven't tried, which seems obvious, is filling up the livewell to balance out the weight of the batteries. There's so many variables with different ramps, current, winds, fender height above water, etc that i haven't been able to get my head wrapped around it. And its not consistent either. I do think it has something to do with the weight of the batteries though. Ive thought of the livewell before but too close to the ramp that i didnt feel like waiting on it. I'm average size running about 180 lbs and close to the center, the batteries are obviously farther out on port side so probably contribute more. I have put my boys on the starboard side, they weigh a combined 150 lbs with inconclusive results.

I don't quite touch the port fender, but my boat does list on the trailer a bit to the port side for sure. I've had it nearly perfectly centered before pulling to the top of the ramp to strap her in and by the time I get up there the port side has sunk a couple inches. Drives me crazy. I don't want to be the guy getting out of his truck when his boat is 5 feet out of the water just to put the straps on, but I'm close to doing it.

I have the same issues. My boat centers perfectly it’s just rolled to the port side. I have tried multiple trailer depths in the water but it makes little difference with the boat position once it’s pulled out. Filling the live well then making sure I walk only on the starboard side while getting off the boat seems to be the only thing that works for me. I blame it on the batteries. Water level is noticeably higher on the port side in calm waters. Once my trolling motor is installed I will have to figure out a new method to load and stay off the left fender.

If the settling occurs after you loaded and strapped in the boat doesn’t it mean then that the starboard stern strap isn’t tight enough, as that would have to give for the boat to list to port? (and the port stern strap would become more loose. )
