Hey guys mite go look at this 2010 212x in a few days was wondering if there was anything other than the normal stuff to worry about . Do these still have the mr1 160 hp motors or are they something different
I don't know if I'd say it's not necessary, it's more like at the water level. Mine is cracked but haven't done any mods on my boat for several years. That's going to change this fall and I plan on replacing it with the ss one I bought 6 years ago lol.
If your inclined, a compression test on the engines is always a good idea and can give you some bargaining power on price. However, if it revs to 10k rpms and hits 46-50mph depending on gear loaded and altitude then probably not necessary. Check oil and air filters. Air filters might have some oil in them which is a sign of overfilling the oil tank. Ask if the impeller bearings have ever been greased. Ask for the hours on it as that will give you an idea of usage. I would get under it and inspect the impellers to see how dinged up they are along with the hull. Bring a flash light.
If it has the original depth finder it probably doesn't work and will need replacing. The stern remote for the radio probably doesn't work either. Neither of these are deal breakers. All the latches and hinges and struts can be replaced cheaply if any are broken. Basically, engines, hull, and impellers are what to look at. Everything else can be fixed relatively easy.
The 2010 212x is a great boat and and a big plus is it doesn't have the pseudo keel or articulating rudder that newer boats have.
