thank you both @Bruce where did you put your voltmeter?

Thanks again
I believe I placed the depth gauge in the notch on the right side of the dash and the volt gauge on the left side.

@Laconic my factory ls2000 had the low oil indicator light built into the fuel gauge; that was why i did not change mine out. Im not sure if the LX is the same way.

My gauge was in many little pieces and the needle was missing. So, I didn't have the option.

@CJmullen Sorry For the late reply!
These are the tachometers i installed: Faria Boat Tachometer Gauge THC052B | W/ Hour Meter 3 1/4 Inch

Keep in mind, these are not a "direct replacement"; these tachometer require a metri pack connector (as the back of the tachs are a 4 pin male connection). I dont know if Great Lakes Skipper still sells these.

I was very happy with these tachs and the added "running" hours meter was a great addition! I think i have 1 spare tachometer (may even have a few of the metri pack connectors) that is brand new; i thought i had a defective one, but it ended up being a wiring issue at the CDI. If you decided to go with these tachs, id be willing to try and track it down to sell it to you.

Initially I tried to repair the cracked tach and speedo housings with epoxy. That worked for a few months then I started having problems again and decided to replace the gauges.

This is the factory setup plus voltage and depth.

These are the new gauges

This view shows the new voltage meter as well

To install the tachs the connectors needed to be changed to 4pin metripack connectors. I soldered and shrink tubed the new connectors.

The tachs work great and include an hour meter. I need to put some more work into the speedo pickup. But I really enjoyed the new tachs. They are much less bouncy than the old.

The tachs are Faria THC052B, the speedo is Faria SE9262A, the voltage gauge is Faria VP7064. I later added a Faria GP7397A fuel gauge.

These are the connectors needed for the tachs http://greatlakesskipper.com/en_us/metr ... -connector

I also changed all the gauge bulbs out with blue LEDs. Amazon offers a set of 8 for $5.50 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0047R ... UTF8&psc=1

Bruce do you remember how the 5 wires were converted to 4? Each wire off the old (5) serve a circuit, which one doubles up to make 4?

Great Lakes does sell the seas I’m just now upgrading. Issue now is how to retire the 5 original wires to the 4?

I do not. Can you post pictures? I believe I remember soldering and shrink tubing the old wires to the new. The difference between 4 wires and 5 likely is the 12V positive for the light.

Do you recall how the wiring harness was configured? 5 wire to 4 wire; was one wire eliminated or doubled up; doubled up with which wire?

When i owned my LS2000 one of the first things i did was replace the gauges. Neither tach worked and the speedo was glitchy. I replaced them with Faria Tachs/Speedo. It was very nice that the Tachs had built in hour meters that only counted when the engines were running; considering the LS2000 did not come with any factory hour meters. I also installed an LED bulb in each gauge. I installed the same tach/speedo as in this post. Heres a few pictures of them installed.
these gauges look great, I have them and the challenge right now is wiring the new harness as the wires are different colored and no instructions. Not sure I even have the correct harness. Is it a 4 wire harness or the 5 wire? Also the bulbs mentioned in the thread didn’t fit theguages, weren’t even close to the stock bulb. Any advice?

I'm finding several options for gauges for the ls2000, mostly after market but with the same wiring configuration. Will know more after I speak to the Faria reps tomorrow. The original tach went up to 8k, the most i can find in some of the aftermarket types in 6-7k. My question is does the 6 become the 8 or will you be running lower rpms and maxing out the tach?. Speedos up to 65; gps. Can find some excellent choices here Marine Instruments

THREAD UPDATE: I too am in the process of replacing gauges, for appearance and functionality. It’s definitely a process, moving much slower than I’d like. Faria Beede Instruments, Inc. has a lot of aftermarket gauges to choose from. I found a nice set that should be a direct swap with the same OEM backside posts; fingers crossed. Faria Beede doesn’t distribute but have a list of distributors to choose from all across the country. Most have great websites to choose from, some want you in their marketing mousetrap to shop. It will take some time to find what you’re looking for. I found Boatersland Marine to have the best pricing. Downside, the speedo I want, to match the tachs and fuel gauge, is a back order item. Still waiting on arrival and will update when complete, with pics.

Hey, I know this post is insanely old, but I'll try anyway. I ordered the same Faria tachometers and the 4-pin connector. My question is, what did you solder on the wire end of the connector? The original connectors seem to be just screws (3.5mm?) that stick out of the tachometer. Is this some standard connector type I can find somewhere? Need something to plug into the female three-pole connector that sits at the end of the RPM wiring.

I cut the factory Yahama connectors off then soldered the factory wires to the 4 pin metripack female pigtails that I had ordered.

This is another source for the metripack pigtails Home » Shop » Connectors / Harnesses » Delphi / Packard » Pigtails » GM Delphi / Packard - 4 Way Metripack 150.2 Connector Plug Pigtail for IAC & MAP

Ahh, understood. Ideally I would like to not touch the original wiring/connector but instead solder the matching counterpart to the metri pigtail.

Why, save the factory connectors if you want and put them back if you need to.

Soldering and shrink tubing the wires will be good as new.

@mahlzeit, not the boat but the same concept. These wires were broken. They needed to be extended and reconnected.
