Im thinking of installing a new prop and wear ring. Looking at mpellers.com. staainless wear ring with there pro performance scarab inpeller...thoughts??? Might boat allways did 50mph...yes now i have flags on it and i understand that can rob me of some speed but now it will do 45 maybe 46....boat has 75hours on it and in the jet ski world that i play in that calls for a new wear ring...when i took it off last summer it didnt look bad though???

Replacing these just "because you're at 75h" won't make a difference IF the condition of the impeller and ring are in excellent shape. I'm at 180+ hours now and still on the original. Condition is indeed excellent but I've gotten no difference in speed. My biggest impact to speed seems to be air temperature. I get better speeds when it's colder. But only a few mph difference. So I don't think replacing it will improve things unless they need replacing. Also, losing 80lbs also helps (just finished a year long journey to lose that weight!). But you can probably achieve that too by removing extra gear in the boat. lol

As for the other types of impellers, yes, that can make a difference. I have no personal experience but from what others have reported, it always seems to be a trade off between things like hole shot, top speed, fuel efficiency, etc. A matter of what you want to prioritize knowing you'll be sacrificing something somewhere else.

very true...i understand what your saying...it was in may when i was getting top speeds. then in july im down to 43mph but thats with every one loaded down and with 2 of the 3 by 5 flags going.....so that might not really be off. I just thought the air temps play with my two stroke. I thought the 4 strokes changed everything up so you didnt have to worry about that

From my experience, air temps/air intake in general definitely makes a difference. I know there are mods that have been done for this, but I'm no expert on that topic. Much more experienced people around to comment on that.

In general, I've just accepted the boat as it is designed. There are ways to eek out a bit more speed, but it seems a lot of effort for very little gain. But some care or enjoy doing the work of course. I applaud them.

Of interest, the "flag" thing on boats in the USA is quite interesting. Here in Canada, it's quite rare to have flags on boats at all. And certainly NOBODY advertises political parties. It would be a Canadian flag only IF there is one. In fact, I think everybody hates all politicians here regardless of which party you vote for. lol

Reading this is mind blowing to me. I fig with the 300s you would get speeds of at least 50+ without even trying. I sure hope mine does big speeds. Lol. As for being political or patriotic, I wish us Canadians wore the flag more like you Americans. I sure do and will be getting a flag for the boat! My truck has one...
We are getting mild temps here and I can feel the spring is right around the corner, yeeehaww. Sad for snowmobiling, but happy for new boat. E52683EB-98C0-4B6D-A09C-FC3CD9F71922.jpeg

Ex-pat living in the US here. Not a full flag, but I got leafs on my vehicles to remind me of the home land. :D

Subtly above the front windows of my truck...

Not so subtly on the bike...

Not done the boat... yet!

didnt want to start another toppic so ill just add to this. just got back from the 1st trip of the year with the boat. a few things i would like some info on. on start up i feel like at low speeds and rpms like idle or 1 or 2 mph it just feels rough. you speed up to 5 or 6mph and it just sounds good. you punch it and i do feel some cavation but once im up it seems to run good. when you come back down it then feels like its running at idle just fine. No codes. i do have anextra pump and impeller i thought about changing just to see if that helps.

next if you guys are going foward at lets say 4 or 5 mph and you have to stop and you put it in reverse have you guys ever had water shoot up high from the jet pump? I think i might of just had the setting set wrong. as in when your in N you can get the bucket at + or - 15

What your describing sounds like older spark plugs. The running rough is a likely symptom of this. I would start with replacing your plugs. Inexpensive and easy to do. Obviously there are more possibilities, but I'd start there. Running rough at idle is unlike to be impeller or ring unless you have debris stuck in there. But do check that.

Not sure on your last question. I mean, your throttle doesn't allow you to shift unless the the throttle is set lower. That shouldn't cause water to shoot up. But whatever is causing it, it's very likely to be your bucket position. How's your neutral? Is it actually behaving like neutral?

They are fine. They are both the same but the cs are rated for 200 hrs and es 100 (if you believe it lol) . It is best to replace every season or 50 hrs.. However I will do mine at 30hrs. I never had a plug make my Seadoo 300 run only 15 mph.. When it gave out at 62 hrs.

E-G is the newer plug, C-G is the old plug.
If you change plugs every year, probably not an issue. The E-G has a different electrode material that allows it to have a service limit of 200 hours rather than 100.

Uncertain on the plugs since I have an older engine. But I think it's worth replacing them again to test the theory out. Worst case scenario, you end up with spare plugs.

could be some condensation in your fuel. I get this with mine every now and again, If I keep the tank topped off I don't have the issue.

There may be a better thread to ask this, but coming from Sea Doo PWC with last two being the PX and TX 300 models so looking forward to getting our 195 300 this fall. That said, I'm not expecting the 75 mph I got with my PWC, but I don't see many people anywhere online talking about the performance of these Scarabs with the 300. In fact there is literally no videos of 195's with the 300 or really any Scarabs on YouTube that really shows detail of these boats.

I always fitted my PWC with Riva Racing items; sponsons, rear through exhaust, Speed Control Override Module (SCOM) and other things. I called Riva recently and they said their SCOM does work on the Scarab 300 models. If you're not familiar with this, it's a piggyback that goes inline with the ECU and basically removes the Coast Guard limiter on PWC that keeps the ski under 70 mph. With no additional RPM or anything other than removing that limiter the ski gets a 5 to 6 mph speed increase for $200.

I see these engines have an open K&N style air filter, or so I see in some pics. If that is stock and it sits right next to the valve cover, perhaps a shield or something could improve the air temps that thing is ingesting. Even something like this for $18 may help RIVA Sea-Doo 300 ALL & 2020+ 230 Valve Cover Heat Shield

Curious to see and hear all that people have done or experience they have with these 300 engines in their boat.

if your wanting speed 49mph on the 195 is tops even with the 300....if i remember to get one to 55 it takes aother 7k and big work...as in new cam and what not...

Makes sense given its weight and drag. I read mph loss due to heat and figure people have tried things to prevent loss.

I've got twin 300s in my boat. Not looking to do any upgrades yet as it's my first year with it, but certainly interested in the topic!
