Hey y’all, the cable assembly to my left reverse gate/bucket came disconnected from where it attaches to the boat, has anyone experienced this before or know how to get it re-attached? Is this something I can do myself or should it be taken in to the shop? Attached a couple pictures showing the issue. Thank you

Edit: the piece that screws into the boat appears to have forcefully popped out. Not sure if the threads are stripped because it can slide back into the hole without blockage. Is there a nut that is supposed to fasted onto the other side to hold the boot in place?

There should be a washer and nut on the inside of the boat. You will need to clean off the surface of the hole and reseal it before reinstalling it. I have seen older boats/skis have the nut crack because it got brittle hopefully thats not the case and you can just reinstall it and tighten it

Thank you, do you know how I would go about accessing the inside part of the boat where that nut attaches?

Edit: just figured out how to get to that area! Thank you so much

Hopefully the nut is hanging in the cable just waiting for you to spin it down...........it a little tight in their so wrenching this down is a problem......I call it how many cuss word strings can you make.....my wife enjoys counting the new strings I use LOL LOL.

Or just use the handy tool from the local plumbing department. A basin wrench this is how you get to the nuts under a kitchen sink easily.....plenty of video out their on the use. My wrench kept the strings to a PG rating.

Yep the nut was just hanging back there, no idea how that happened. Good idea with the wrench, waiting on some marine silicone to deliver before I do the reassembly. I appreciate the help!

You have 3 areas to seal I just did a new cable on my SX240 the outside of the cable holder next to your jet ........then spin down nut ..........I caulked around nut and used a hobby paint brush to paint a good seal around the nut to the fiberglass. Then I put sealer inside the tube on the back side and painted it on the threads and on the cable so water will never get in if the seals on the drive side fail. Plus the nut should not come loose with the 3m 4200 I used.....one could use a good silicon that is not a water clean up type not as tough as 4200. My next cable replacement might be a little tough with the 4200.
