So I am really confused, We have an SX210 and a 242 high output Limited
The 210 revs 7 k both engines but it’s almost like it’s slipping a clutch or something.
When I start searching for parts for a wear ring on sites like boats.net or other such nothing is listed,
Just the complete housing no removable ring
After deeper research in the parts breakdown I have also found that the shaft does in fact have a rubber shear clutch so it puts me to question what direction I should go - We have put rings in Jet Skis but not any of the Boats
Have a shop and everything but I don’t know how much we would be biting off if we tried changing the wear ring or housing if that’s what is needed
Or as well that rubber shear clutch
Has anyone actually done one? Can you give me an idea of how big of a pain it is

This is a rental boat so it’s ate its share of ski ropes

Thanks in advance for your advice

Double check to make sure that the intake grate silicone is all in place and that there isn’t anything on the shaft that could cause cavitation. Even a tiny piece of fishing line wrapped around the shaft could cause cavitation. Also, damage to the impeller will cause cavitation. That being said, if your pump/wear ring is out of spec it does require replacing the outer pump “housing”. There’s no actual replaceable “ring insert” on that pump.

Looking on Yamaha Sports Plaza, they seem to be out of production? Not sure why that would be. Possibly somebody else will have more current info. But here’s the part that is considered the wear ring.

Thank You, that does help, never realized that the grate sucking air could cause a problem will make sure it’s sealed fully,

Have you ever done one? I’ve read that the impeller can be a real bugger to break loose, but I shouldn’t need to take it off if it’s just replacing the housing right?

I know that this poor boat has ate its fair share of sand gravel and ski ropes.
